Another Boot Thread

I know there have been a couple of these in the past month, but I'm trying to compare 2 specific boots so if you have some experience with either of them it would be great to hear about it. They both have some type of Black Friday deal going so I plan to order a pair of one of them before the sales end.

Motorfist Redline Boots $249
Castle X Barrier $169

Another option I am considering is a pair of Klim, (not sure what style) that I buy from Kip during his open house.

Thanks for the feedback.

if u get the redlines today on first place parts u can get a MF b pack or helmet for a extra 50 bucks.
IMHO the klim are ok at best .I got the old motorfist sold em.
I still like my Columbia bugaboots the best but that's just me . I do not like stiff heavy or restrictive boots

Don't know about the Motorfist boots, but I've had the Castle Barriers for 3 years now and have never been cold. Best boots I've ever owned.

The black Friday deal is the extra $ for the helmet on the motorfist, or free castle socks with the barriers. I'm thinking I'd rather save the cash and get the castles plus I have to add $ to get the helmet, then more $ to get goggles. Not sure I would have bought the motorfist helmet and goggles in the first place.

If the castles are warm I'll probably take those and just settle for free socks.

Snowhawg, how true is the sizing?

I have been riding the last 2 years with the Columbia Boogaboot XT's. They were great the first year and a half. Last year however my feet started to get wet and the Pro's running boards took their toll's on the sole's of the boot. After bunches of research I decided to go with HMK Voyager Boa's and try a stiff boot again.

Gary: In a test I saw (video) they tested the Castle boots against a few other top names and when the boots were placed in a tub of water for 5 days the Castle boots were the only ones that stayed dry!!! Simple on and off and have heard lot's of people love them. I did think about going that direction but felt I was a bit to active on the sled to not have a lace system.

the pro board will take out any soul in 2 yrs . same with my old tube boards with the ice screws.
don't know many active riders with pro's getting much more than 2 seasons.
I got my last set of Columbia's in the spring at dicks on clearance for like 50 bucks 3 yrs ago . I got a new set in may on the same rack for 75. these are all kinds of fancy with the silver dot stuff on the inside .the old were not leaking yet but bottoms were shredded.
these newer boards are doing more havoc on my pants and sleeves. some how they are tearing or snagging when catching on them when rolling /digging/yanking . my pants have 1 sm patch my fav jacket has a few sags. its ok they match the oil stains

Thanks guys. Just bought the Castle Barriers from First Place Parts. Seems like people have had good experience with them and honestly I would have spent another $215 to get the Motofist ones because I would have added the helmet and goggles to the deal. I wasn't really in the market for those items so I figured I keep that cash in my pocket right now.

Besides, these are for my son so if they don't work out as well as we hope, I'll know not to buy them for myself down the road, :)

I'm in a good position with the souls on my boots, going on my 4th year with my Klim adrenaline gtx boots and not expecting them to make it another year after these running boards chew them up. I absolutely love them, super dry, perfect thickness/warmth, perfect stiffness. Once you ride with a stiffer boot you'll never go back. Not sure what I'll get next year, my buddy got the Klim Boas a month ago and tried them out when we went up a few weeks ago, loved them for the little riding we did. I'll probably try to find a closeout deal on the HMK boas, I found some for $170ish this year tried to convince him to buy them but he wanted to spend the $320 on the Klims. Not sure I could do that and have to replace them every couple years...

Well if they do wear out, you could always sell your "souls" to the devil! 👿

If just one wears out, would that make it a "sole" survivor? 😉

Aren't motorfist's "souls" replaceable?

Cant imagine dropping $300+ for boots to replace every 2 years

I beg to differ I cant stand walking or riding in snowboard boots .
I got my first pr of hmk during the last days of the zr chassis used them 1 season on and off and tossed them in the trash in the spring.
then started riding the x fire chassis and thought I may like the ski boot better in a more rider forward . still hated them gave them to a bud.
every one has there own trip .I ride with guys who love them and guys who hate them . that's prob why there are about 600 styles of boots to pick from in life.
as it type this I am looking over at the wife's overpriced collection of Alaska truck stop boots {ugg} and still do not get it but she must really like them I see 4 pr in fr of the door

are u sure about that? I dont even get a closet any more I get a few shelf's and some rods in the basement next to washer and dryer. I do get 1 drawer in the bed room still. but think I may be loosing out on that soon if I don't just blindly start to load contractor bags and drop at the goodwill
