I have no memory of buying 2 stroke oil I trust for $1.39 a qt- and I am old!
sale starts Jan 2... ends Jan 10th

also looking for feedback on another oil - this is Citgo Full Syn 4 stroke oil (cars) also at Fleet Farm Jan 2nd for $3.99 qt (with rebate) not really an oil expert-at all-- would you trust this oil ? is it comparable to Mobil 1 ?

I've used farm and fleet Dino oil (same as Citgo dino, just rebranded for f&f) for 186k in my wife's truck. Runs perfect.
Body will probably rust off before motor dies.

There is not really any bad oil out there anymore.

Shhhhh.....if you listen real close you can hear all those engines blowing up already just at the thought of drinking all that cheap Sea & Snow! :)

Towtruck -- not familiar with the 4s oil you mention, but if it meets the standards your engine calls for and you like the price, then it's all good. :) IMHO

Tried Sea And Snow years ago, it didn't pour well at cold temps, and smell bad in the exhaust. Maybe it's better now. Check the cold temp pour point, the lower the better.

Engine rebuild.... Thousands. Guess if I had a beater sled then maybe. Not! Fire away. I really don't care.

$300 crank rebuild
$200 Pistons ($400 if you go fancy)
$130 gaskets
3 hrs labor (if your being lazy)

Not quite thousands. Polaris CFI. I just did it last week. Rode it last weekend.

Rebuilt because a stator bolt backed out and locked the motor down. Didn't find the cause until motor was almost stripped to nothing. Had 9k miles on it. Figured I freshen it with that many miles. Looked in decent shape yet. Used and will continue to use Mystic.

LOL. And who has new pistons in their sled?

You know it did not blow up. I am not impressed with the Poo piston design. I probably threw money away, but at 3000 mountain miles I will call it preventive maintenance. The power valves looked great at 3000 mile first cleaning ever. Got to give Poo ves oil some credit. The rod bearings did show discoloration due to heat. I think the quantity of oil out weighs the oil brand. Run what you want. I will run what I want. Dealer said they will honor my Warranty for it's balance so I sprung for the Wossners.

I give you credit for trusting a poo 800 for 3k mtn miles. I sure as heck wouldn't. I'd measure Pistons every year.

Lol. No stress cracks on pistons or cylinder walls. Compression was even on both cylinders at 125 psi. Poo played around with all the reflash nonsense. A two stroke burns oil. More the better. I also had 3000 miles on original plugs. Clearly the sleds are way lean. I run sled with oil cranked up 2 1/2 turns higher then factory preset. Also thinking running s premix 100:1 in the tank. Plugs are cheap.

Skylar we know you did pistons also. At least that's what I heard. Reason?

guess If I drove a poo I would always bee worried to .lol could not resist ruffling your pom poms
I run the S&S have for yrs . in the cars what ever full syn is on sale.
most of the time wall mart brand.
as far as 2st oil how long is it in that motor at 8000 rpm?
8000 rev per min
8000 divided by 60 = 133 revolutions per second . so that ves gold is in the crank case for what 1/64th of a second?

You clearly got a good one.

Oil is cheap. Oil brand is less important than oil amount. IMO

speaking of oil any other cat guys get the annoying flashing low oil light with a solid 1/2 day of oil left in the sled

No he did not, he is a brave soul! My compression at 200 miles was not very even to say the least. Oil pump turned up 2 3/8 turns I was running 80:1. Took the cap off heard a nice woosh. Threw that piece of garbage in the trash and got a skidoo cap and pump turned up to appx. 3 3/4 turns and my oil consumption doubled if not tripled.

What? LOL, I did NOT do pistons. I did put on a new set of handlebars though. You have to remember, I have had no problem saying that the Poo 800 has/had problems, and if I were to put a new set of pistons in, I would come on here and start a thread about it.

As far as the whole oil debate, you have been captain negative about Sea and Snow since the first time it was brought up on this site, even though you do not have any experience using it. I, on the other hand, have used it in 4 sleds, with over 15,000 combined miles on those sleds, without ANY problems. Plus, all the guys I ride with use it, and have used it, with no issues either.

Anytime this subject is brought up, you make some negative comment about it, like you did earlier in this thread. LOL. I have never made any negative comments on the oil you use, because I have no experience using it. Your opinion on Sea and Snow oil means nothing to anyone, because you do not use it! LOL.

Here is the PR1 challenge for 2015, anytime a Sea and Snow thread is started, see if you can stay out of it.

Even though I use Polaris VES, when is the last time you heard an engine burn down was due to the oil being used? I think it's all good today, use whatever makes you happy! :)

Maybe if one uses an oil that isn't rated for their machine (e.g., using outboard oil in a sled). But even then I've heard plenty of guys say they do that with no ill effects. Not something I would do, but hey.....to each his own. I agree though, spend as much or as little as you like on whatever oil makes you happy. Or is most pleasing to your nostrils. :)

I love when the oil thread comes up because it always makes a good read. I, just like Skylar, have used Mystic jt4 for 10000 plus miles and never had an oil related issue in my cat or skidoo. I have also used oem oil also without issue. It's funny people never complain that much about the oil they use in their car or truck. I always see people at Walmart or Menards just buying whatever is on sale. I say think snow and let's ride!!!
