The concern at the time was that klim was going to go downhill once it had a corporate parent to report to. Looking back, it seems that hasn't been the case at all.

Klim is probably 20x the size of MF too, or at least it seems that way on the snow.

I still like them both - probably prefer MF for the simple fact you can find their stuff on sale when it is out of date.

That kind of move is common among companies trying to make it harder for someone to pull off a hostile takeover......just to fan THOSE flames a little........;)

You assume Cat used debt financing to buy MF.

Cat has no long term debt and piles of cash.

What I think is meant is Yamaha would have duplications & throw aways should they want to buy AC in the next 2 years... Ok with me if Motorfist is a part of an inflated deal.

Not necessarily.......one of the things that makes a company attractive for a takeover is your "piles of cash" on hand......and what better way to eliminate some of that than to buy something, eh? :)

Yeah I bought some of the midlayer pants on clearance and found they put the logo on the back. Guys made fun of the trampstamp so I cut it out. I think they would do better with a different name and/or logo. Seems like great quality though. eVent is top notch

I get that diversification may make them less attractive to Yamaha, but as for a pile of cash - an investor will pay $1 for a dollar in the bank no matter how many they have.

why would any one think yamaha wants cat ? heck they dont want to be building there own sleds let alone build more. if yamaha truly wanted to build a competing sled they sure would not need cat to do it.

One would think that Cat and Car hart would be a better fit.
The name "motorfist" from a marketing stand point is extremely laim.

Reima north america was bought up by Scott in about 05 and basically ran the brand into the ground in a few years you can still get Reima overseas but no longer in the US under the Reima name. I completely agree Reima stuff was great I had a Hekionon jacket (which became the warrior jacket) and gloves and Goretex bibs I really like the quality and still have them to this day just in case I loose 40 lbs and feel the need to break them out again. What I really liked about Reima at the time was the solid colors and a design that was not going to age like the neon colors that had become dated so quickly in the mid to late 90's.
I did buy a Scott slingshot jacket and found the fit of the jacket to be just crap unless you have arms like a monkey and didn't plan to bend them at the elbow. The jacket was so stiff and the elbows so tight that they were uncomfortable I wore it two times and replaced it with a FXR Polaris jacket which I do really like.
