was really hoping for a new motor . really only because I will be in the market after next yr and I will never again be a tester for any oem .
like the team clutches .like what they did with the arms and spindle but it was pointless with out redesigning the side panels to not be a 1 size fits all .move the motor over tad and narrow the panels then they would have shown they are in it to win it . now just 1/2 assing the deal

I have to say that I really don't like the look of the new cats.....my last sled was a 2008 M8 and I loved it...

since they changed out the front end it just seems like a ton more stuff to break...or bend....and need replacing.

maybe I'm still stuck in the old style cat but boy I loved it. I've never ridden the new style and maybe that would change my mind but I liked the old look...with more of that front stuff protected. it's all about weight reduction and I get that...just not sold on the new style....

yeah try and change plugs on it . it deff took me about 300 mi until I felt any confidence on it . but now after getting it dialed in how I like it I like it a lot better than the old M.

Looking at the trail or crossover market I'm surprised at the skid/track set-ups. The trail ZR max's out at 137/1.25, then the Xtech is a 137/1.5, the high country is a 141/2.25 and the xtour is a 146/1.25. I'm surprised they don't have a 141 with the 1.5, and don't understand the 146 with only a 1.25. I've been thinking maybe this year or next but would want a 1.5 for sure, and not sure I'd go less than a 141. 2015 seemed to have more length/lug combinations. I know you can always do a new take off, but I'm already dropping a chunk of change who wants to put more into it for swapping a track?

Will dealers swap a new track for you and give you anything reasonable for the new track you just took off? Or if you do the work yourself, I wonder if tracksusa or someone similar would exchange a track for you? I suppose you could just sell it yourself.

At $16,300 for the top of the line, and over $10K for something I would want. They are out of my price range. Looks like Vintage sleds for me for the rest of my life. I'm OK with that.

Seriously - it wasn't that many years ago when the $10,000 sled was thought of as crazy. Cat is missing that lower end 600 line too where the indy is so I don't know what they are thinking there.

Hello,
I don't really mind the price creep as a new 600 Etec Renegade is at exactly 10k (price before tax and reg) for my 2016 pre-order. What kills me is the depreciation since I buy a new sled every year. What causes depreciation in a sled; the lack of interest of someone else to buy my one year old sled, poor relibaility, low performance in suspension and/or motor etc. I used to buy only Cat up to 2004 and have moved on because Cat seems underfunded in tech and the sleds do not hold value. I had three callers all offering 9k in early February on my last 2015 Renegade 600 E-tec. How can I go wrong? I think about trying another brand as they look appealing (especially a Viper) but go back to Doo for the resale value.

Thats the beauty of spring only sleds. Its great for the loyal and early buyers, u get a better deal and longer warranty, its a no-brainer. People beotch about not being able to get an X or XRS in-season, but the people who did buy them early dont get burnt on re-sale, ever. When a dealer is flooded with new sleds that they cant sell and end up giving them away at huge rebates, and you have that same sled that you spring ordered, welp you just took a huge hit. Not gona name sleds, but a buddy took a 7g hit on a sled less than a year old, and to top it off it he hated it and it broke down more than once!! Lets just say once bit, twice shy.

I'm curious about how you do this without losing your shirt - looks like you buy current year sleds as opposed to left-overs and then sell sort of mid to late season (mid-Feb). When do you typically buy - Fall or Spring order?

I try to buy non current or in end of season . way way better deal than a sno check.
then dump the old one in the fall when they are top $$. play it right less than 500 a yr 800 at most I try every other yr. this yr may be a 3 yr deal just have not used the M much this yr. heck if prices keep going like they are it may be my last one for a long time

Ezra-agree 100%. I go this route as well. Now is the time to buy new. If a cat is $16.3...20K not the far away...yikes.

Or you buy new and hold on to it for a lot of years. My last four sleds have been non current or slightly used. This year I am treating myself and snow checking a 7000 HC and planning to keep it for 7-10 years, about the time frame where they quit supply all the parts for the sled. (Use and abuse this time. :))

I'm thinking if you like having a new new trail sled every year buy an Indy sell an Indy. All cookie cutter sleds that don't seem to be very expensive if you stay in 600s. No idea if they hold up but doesn't matter always have a new 1. Not the type of sled that interests me but got me thinking it would be possible to have a new 1 every year even if you ride 3500 miles a year very doable.

This year I spring ordered a 2015 Ski-Doo. I go to a dealer that I have patronized for the last 11 years and he gives me a sled for about $500 less than anyone else to keep relations going. I buy a popular sled (600 e-etec renegade) that is easy to flip and take great care of it (covered trailer, garage storage) and sell in Mid-February (must be gone by Presidents weekend). The kicker this year is the free 3 year warranty (used buyers see value in this of $500-800 and that goes in my favor). Plus, I keep my miles under 1,000.

All of this equals less than $1 per mile and I get a few things; ride a new sled every year that is tops in technology for a reasonable price, no-break-downs (I hope), no maintanence costs and I get to ride up-north and from home in Green Bay when we actually have snow.

Yesterday I pulled the trigger and spring ordered a '16 XF. The out the door price was $1,200 below MSRP. Can't complain when you look for the deals.
