My bad Indy. I keep forgetting that you guys actually use your long trackers for what they were intended for. Over here in the flatlands a lot of guys buy Assaults and other colored long sleds and never go off the trail with them. Why I don't know. You are right. If he is holding it WFO most of the time odometer readings don't mean much.

BTW skiroule dont pay a grand it is a ez job less than a few hrs what else u got to do now days ;)

LOL! I have no comeback for that point. Wonder what the difference in cost would be, just figuring in the cost of the kit and beer (beer is the wildcard in the estimate).

the 1 thing I don't get about the majority of the kits is the shim.
ok they say the cheep poo pistons quickly loose roundness from dropping to deep in to the case and rocking because of the lack of skirt length.
I get the fact that the pistons have a diff connecting point requiring the shim. but the rod is not changing .the piston still is dropping down the same amount .why the shims? is it they did not want to start from scratch and just found a wossner that would fit the hole?
why is it RTK has a wosner kit that requires no shim. and I thought he had one that needed a head. now the head one imho is the most logical to me. move down the connecting rod in to the piston and push the head up ?

I may be wrong but this is my understanding: Shim the head so you can install a taller piston design thus less piston skirt stress from side pressure. Everything is basically raised up the same thickness of the shim. However much shim is how much less at the bottom.

Well, just to be fair to the Doo guys, you bring your doo's where we ride our poo's (I used to have one) and you'll be there till spring trying to get that heavy 4s out of the trench

that is what I am saying it is a cylinder shim not a head shim. if it was a head shim it would make more since. as a jug shim the piston is still dropping past the skirt.
I have buds with both the bmp and the non head rtk just pistons . cant say what is best both only have a yr on them.
again the 2800 off trail mi don't meen chit to the 800 skirt issues .just as many on trail 800 have had issues. a good bud dropped a skirt last yr at just under 3k all trail whole new motor . this yr down on power and rpm at just over 2k he is planning on a tear down this fall to check it out.
think if I were to be out of warranty and had a poo 800 I would go with the RK Tec just piston kit no shim and just swap that kit out every 2 yrs just for that warm fuzzy feeling at wfo in a sketchy place to go down

Thanks for taking care of me Kip!

I put 35 miles on the sled Saturday, man, sure is nice to have all the power back again.

I beg to differ. A trail sled with the equivalent hours on it would have 7k miles on it. Skylar doesn't miss a weekend on that sled, heck, he's riding up there right now! Still a bummer it let loose but good timing as the warranty is coming to an end and he basically has a new sled again!

So at 7000 miles the motor would be expected to be toast? Not a very good comparison..LOL...

Hey Wayne , you have had your sled a few years now. You have an intentions of getting a new model any time soon with the HO motor?

Nope, I am content. I am not a fan of an electronic oil pump or the pork chopped crank.

I run in the 7800 -8000 rpm range at max.

Yup can stay on parents insurance till 26. I've had my eye out for houses but more interested in a garage/shop right now.

Wow, from Skyler's Poo going down, to the age of becoming an adult an all that goes with it. This tread has really moved off topic :)
