WI Trail Pass Info from AWSC

The way I understood, if a non-resident has WI regs, you have to order the $30 sticker by mail. So you cant wait till first snow. The $50 out of state trail pass will be available at local stations, just like before. Not very convenient IMO. Why cant they hand out the $30 pass at local stations too? Just make you show your current WI registration papers, then give you the sticker?

Got my renewal for my sled last night. I keepmy sled in the yoop, and dont ride in wi. I will pay my 30 dollar registration, and call it done. Well, 50 bucks for my trail permit for Mi.

Yeah I can see a lot of people doing this. For sure people will be waiting for the snow first.
I think this could back fire on them. I think they'll loose lot of registrations too. Not like all of Wisconsin gets snow, might push more people to the U.P.

Got my Wisc letter. I am a MN resident. My sled is registered in MN. Nowhere in the letter does it say I must register my already licensed sled in Wisc. All I have to do is buy a non-resident Trail Pass for $50 and plaster it to the windshield. The only thing different is the cost of the Trail Pass. The letter then goes on to stated that non-residents who join the AWSC and join a club and once owned a 1995 Pol XLT will get a $20 discount unless they have a niece with epilepsy residing in South Carolina. If that is the case you must then join a club in two separate counties and also join the Sierra Club in order to qualify for the a $20 reimbursement to be applied to your license request for 2017. Unless you still own the 1995 XLT.
This is the best post I have read in a while. I have a few months to decide what I want to do. Whitedust you are correct that is what I meant.

I will be doing it also, registration only and no trail pass. Probably won't even put the registration stickers on this year just toss them in the underseat bag in case MI DNR throws a fit that it's not "registered".

You could just register it in Mi for $30 for 3 year registration and then the yearly trail pass, and just leave Wi out of the revenue if you only ride the sled in the yoop.

In the rare event we get dumped on at home I might buy a trail pass so sticking with Wisconsin registration makes sense to me. Would take a lot of snow for me to think about running a bunch of plowed fields though.

I like what Ontario does. Offers choice of 3 day, 7 day or seasonal. You buy online and you pick a club when you buy your permit and that club receives the incremental funding. Seasonal passes are mailed while the shorter term ones you print and attach to your windshield. Simple and easy and accommodates guys who ride a lot or little

Looks like Illinois will get my registration for the first time in a lot of years and buy trail passes from Wisconsin and Michigan I hate giving Illinois any more money then I have to.

Getting a new one this season, will do the same thing this year and register in IL and get the WI trail pass. Keep the sticker down to three.

Guys here are complaining about $30. 3 days in Ontario is $75, 7 days is $140 and a season pass is $260. Looks to me like WI is a pretty good deal.

For the record I haven't seen any complaining about the $30, just the extra amount of stickers. I'm not complaining about the $30 by saying I probably won't buy a trail pass, just that spending $30 on something I won't use is a waste of money.

Agree the entire subject started regarding amount of stickers not cost but to some saving $30 for permit that they won't use makes sense. Also agree riding a new RMK in plowed filelds not my idea of a good time either. lol

Wisconsin is downright cheap for the guy riding all season long.

I would call WI reasonable...Ontario is better trail bang for the buck compared to cornfield trails in WI more snow in Ontario and longer season not apples to apples in any way to WI. Not a whole lot of ammenities in Ontario but know your range or add gas range & aok. Very different trail systems and speed limits in Ontario that no one obeys.lol

Yes no comparison between the two systems, at least to the sliver of Ontario's system I have seen. I was just talking about how they apply part if the permit fee directly to a club compared to how Wisconsin is doing it with the club member discount

Just look at those stickers as badges of honor and souvenirs. Montana, wyoming, Idaho, Ontario and for whatever reason Michigan grace my sled. No room for a monster sticker or an Amsoil sticker anymore.
