Well we have had Midwest areas with good snow so 850s with Gen 4 has had some run time. Likes, dislikes positives negatives...What do think?

I am north of Houghton today and put on the first 240 miles on my 850 ADR Gade. Power is super, runs 80 MPH at 6800 rpm's and sings a sweet song. Still in break-in so not hitting the 8k power surge yet. Handles well, doesn't feel heavy and reminds me of my 600 Gade in the corners; light. I like everything about it so far, hopefully out of break-in late tomorrow and want to ride it when it is cold on Wednesday. As far a coolant temp, it runs 105-113 if you keep it moving over 50. The warmest was when I was in Eagle Harbor idling at 143 degrees; all seems fine with the 35 temp today.

have over 500 miles on mine now along with 3 others this past week. Pretty wicked trail sled. No belt issues or much dust for how hard I have ridden it. I have never owned a sled that can fly thru the rough stuff this easily. you have to ride one to see for yourself. In box stock form it wasn't much of a race with some AXYS's and 16 800etecs, the farther you go the worse it gets.

It does seem to vibrate quit a bit at idle is about my only complaint at the moment

you don't notice the RAVEs open at high speeds like you could on the 800's

check your track and chain tension as mine had to be adjusted a good amount after about 300 miles

I removed the foam guard inside the clutch guard and drilled a 3 inch hole in plastic on side of guard for better cooling

I have heard of some summit riders blowing belts out west, but also lots with great luck. The cosmoline on clutches and improper belt breakin along with the stock set-up not inductive to great cooling, then some of those guys out west get a sled and go balls to the walls from the get go in 4ft of powder, which is tuff on the belt. Get a shim kit if your clutches are mis aligned or else a floater and you wont be able to get the grin off your face ;)

Nobody can keep a belt on the summits.

That is a little over board. Many more having zero issues than having belt problems. Most seem to be clutches not aligned right or belts not broken in properly from reading snowest and dootalk. But I do love when a few guys have problems its always " nobody, or they all" and people freak out.

Always going to have issues on a new model. Though so far it doesn't seem terrible. I'd be a little concerned about the vibration at idle though. Doo isn't know for have quality crankshafts.

I personally know 4 people who bought a new 850 and every single one blew a belt in less than 300 miles go on snowest or sledderz 2.0 on FB and they're both littered with blown belts, same goes for bent axys a arms. They all suck, and he asked for people's opinion. It's obvious the 850 has a clutch/belt issue...

Some may have issues, but there are ways to correct them. But most would rather go on the internet and complain than get there hands dirty

Yup. I learned back when I became a ski doo owner reading doo talk unless I needed some info was just depressing. Nobody ever comes on and writes about the all the good, only go on a forum when a problem comes up. For all those that are on there there are more having zero issues who don't go on a forum..... Ok sorry to hi jack forum, back to the 850's.....

Agreed, many types of riders etc.; on Dootalk there is a thread of guys ignoring break-in advice and going for top speed runs out of the box. Me, I baby a bit and move up and down the throttle range reasonably and haven't been over 86 MPH yet.

I adjusted my belt this morning after riding the first 300 miles in Houghton, MI in the past 48 hours. The belt did need adjustment but there was little dust. For me, the most dust was apparent at 60 miles when I did my first adjustment. My Dealer said keep adjusting the belt every few hundred, I am cool with that as it adds gas mileage and throttle response.
We will see if it lasts.

is it normal to have all these adjustments modifications on new Doo's? I was actually considering purchasing one, but I'm a little concerned about what I'm reading. Does anyone just get on and ride? Of course following the break in suggestions according to the owners manual.

The only thing I do with my Yamaha's is change the oil and adjust track tension after 500 miles and that's it except for normal wear and tear items.

Oh here we go - make sure you include the Ben Gay and Ibuprofen for the sore bod, wrestling that 600 lb boat all over the trail on that archaic suspension.
The 125 lb. wife rode an 800 AXYS and I a 600, all over Vilas last week and not one sore muscle or complaint about the ride. Amazing sleds.

I removed a foam piece, drilled a hole(Both of which were my choice not mandatory) and after 550 miles adjusted track and chaincase, which took all of 5 minutes.

The new chain adjustment on the 850 is slick, literally can do it in 1 minute maybe 2, don't have to remove anything.

Buds who rode with me didn't touch anything just rode'em.

Ok. good to hear. the new doo's appear to have an awesome suspension and I may give one a try. I've been a die hard Yamaha guy forever. Owned a couple of Doo's when my son was learning how to ride. Yamaha didn't have any fan cooled 550 sleds. I was happy with them and may get the 2up for me and my wife. One day when it's time to send my apex XTX to pasture I may give Doo a try.

Beware if you ride a G4, I have a sneaking suspicion you wont be giving it back

Darren no worries with the doo 2up a proven product. The 850 gen 4 is all new and just getting on the snow with the public same as the Yamacat Sidewinder.
