so which style of films do you prefer....the ones with engine sounds....or the ones I edit to match songs and terrain with no motor sound....I got a bunch of news ones....and I can put the old ones to music back on with motor sounds like the backwards run one...what say you?...give me a sec and will post each one for you to evaluate

For myself, I do not enjoy the "music", give me "music" and I will mute the speaker!
(But then I'm an old fart, and not wild about much of today's "music".)
As to the "motor sounds", I can take 'em or leave 'em.

Furthermore, I would generally recommend some ruthless editing of the videos as well. Different views, different terrain, different scenery, OK; but just going on and on and on and on through virtually the same scene is — for me — the visual equivalent of of (click→) "Little_Boxes".
"♫ Little trails on the hillside,

"Little trails, all the same.
There's a green (pine?) tree and a pink (red maple?) tree,
"And a blue (spruce?) tree and a yellow (birch?) tree,

"And they all look just the same.
♫"
Bo-ring! … three minutes max is about all I can take of that!
(But I'm not and have never been a sled jockey either.)

Personally when I watch a sled video if it has music on it I just turn it off. Much rather listen to the motor.

it depends on the video . I like motor sounds when sleds are in woods of on hills etc so I have a better idea of how steep or technical it really is because it is so hard to tell on video . if some trail video I don't mind music because it provide at least some entertainment value.
personally I like the ridding videos but the best stuff is when guys are standing around shooting the BS after seeing a wreck or a guy doing something stupid usually way more entertainment value in those

I like to hear some music to set the groove and also let me hear the sled. It does also take a good mix of footage! Here is an example of an edit I did this year. I bet most do not watch it until the end as most POV footage can get a bit boring to watch unless it's your own :peaceful:.
When you are working on your edits remember that people want to watch the short exciting things then move on to the next. The emotion you get when watching your own footage is not the same that everybody else does since they were not there! Remember that taking shorter video clips makes editing your footage much easier!

Watched them too. I prefer hearing the motor with no music.
Cooksend, we've talked about this before - I have no idea what you guys find entertaining about that kind of riding. Totally "nutso".

Amen to that! I couldn't agree more! And the current nose-in-the-cell-phone texting-all-day generation and "Twitter users" even more so!
[Tweets are for twits!" -FRN]
P.S.: "I bet most do not watch it until the end …":

I actually did watch the full 4 min + 48 sec. of your video, tho' I had to resist hitting the kill switch about three times.

I can almost understand how one of your fellow sled jockeys[SUP]1[/SUP] might be interested. Except for the bits where one of the other riders was not so much riding, as kicking the sled along like a sidewalk "sk8er boi". Where's the fun in that? I also find the rider's[SUP]2[/SUP] POV to be less interesting than the scenes showing other riders. The latter just gives the scene a bit wider, more varied and interesting scope.

I could almost imagine the enhanced interest that could be had from the use of an intelligent drone camera tracking you. (There already are drone cameras with a "follow me" mode.) Of course such an an intelligent drone would have a helluva time following you through all of the narrow, very tight spots in "da bush", with the branches whacking yer helmet along the way. (That itself is a navigational concept that also doesn't quite equate with "fun" fer me.) :indecisiveness:

[SUP]1[/SUP] "jockeys" (Note to all: there's no apostrophe there 'cuz it's a plural form, not a possessive!)
[SUP]2[/SUP] "rider's" (Note to all: there is an apostrophe there 'cuz it really is a possessive!)
:devilish:

Looks good for being young and just getting into it. Certainly not afraid of the Throttle! I almost hate to even post this comment as things can get a bit off track but if this is the path he wants to take as a rider please first teach him that he needs to know what is legal and what is not then respect that above all else! Look forward to seeing what a few years brings to his riding and editing!

Here are a couple of vids from my son this year. He is 14 and really taking to droning, photography and editing.

These are my favorite, I like to hear a mix of both. Music, but when on the throttle you hear sled over the music. Nice video

My two kids are on the iq shift and edge. His camera was not working right so much of the POV was from my camera on my sled. Yes, both of the kids are taught to only go off trail where they know they can and marked on a map. Respect the land and owners. "If you don't know, don't do it"

For only doing it for a short time i am very proud of him and can't wait to see what he can do!!
