if she only has to go from cabin to groomed trail ever the 4st is just fine .
if you need to ditch bang to the trail head not so good .

It' not just the weight, but more so where it is placed, or located on the sled. Such as balanced side to side, and front to back. Such as in handling.

y'all crack me UP..really..an 800 pound sled is better is better for a chickilala than a pro s or r...because it has POWER steering..yea whatever..how bout the *** kicking she doesnt get with the REAR suspension????

and of course mine stays home..so i dont care:cool3:

Bobsledder asked about a Yamaha model with power steering and was told by most experts on here that they are too heavy for his "special someone"
Between me and my "S.S.", we have a combined 50,000 miles on the Yamaha 4 strokes.
With her latest Yamaha having power steering and me going to the Poo Indy and now pro s, she has the majority a them 50k miles so I won't argue with HER expert opinion at all.
Her Apex and my pro s are sitting just under 8,000 clicks on the ODO right now.
I mentioned that I should probly have a top end rebuild done on the Poo.....she asked "how much $$" aaaaaand if her Apex needed one too,.....I just laughed. She got me good.

Channel Sue Aikens on Life Below Zero. Snowbuilders wifey. Kind of a contradiction - she rides an Apepig, and he rides the lightest sled in the industry. Wonder who wears the pants in that house?

he says 50,000 miles too.....I have ridden high mileage and with those numbers I can guarantee that almost all of them are on table top trails and if he even sees a mogul he takes them both a different route....what say you snobuilder?

So EPS is a bad thing????? I like it and remember when it was an option on all cars then took about 10 years to be standard same thing with power brakes? I'm fine with power steering on sleds and wish Yamacats had EPS. No OEM did much for 2018 so maybe power steering and brakes are in R&D for all of them. Polaris has been talking ABS brakes for years....think about no lock up of tracks in a panic stop...sure sounds good to me. Remember when no one had electric start or reverse on their sleds...lol...now every sled has it. I bet many would take power steering and brakes if offered for trail sleds ...why not if it makes operation easier and better? Strip sleds down for powder riding that makes sense but for trails and long distance riding I'll take all the comfort I can get and gladly pay for it.:)

Yup!!! It appears the season has officially started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I say so what~!!!!!!!!!!

Grins and giggles for us but not so sure for snobuilder. SB has been behaving himself as of late and he sure didn't say anything to start this one. I'm sure he can take it as well as dish it out and happy to see XXX007 lighten the mood a bit. I sure don't want to be a part of a season with attacks on anyone just not what Snow Central is about. bobsledder asked a simple question for his SS tell me about power steering and Yamaha models with EPS. As usual the topic went right to weight 4s to 2s ...To me all the OEMs except Polaris have outstanding 4s trail sleds and the Yamaha sleds engine and bumper to bumper are robust & outstanding 4s sleds. bobsledder can't buy a new Polaris 4s and should not a buy a used Polaris 4s without great risk so very logical he would ask about Yamaha sleds with EPS for SS. I never ever heard anyone that rode a Yamaha sled with EPS say I hate that EPS ...lol...just the opposite and say that EPS sure is sweet. I thought the Vectors I test rode at Pat's over the years with EPS and mono were sweet riding sleds very light feel. I tried to sell venturenorth on the Vector LTX had good solid 130+ HP, EPS , excellent mpg but he said it was too light called it a toy...lol & then bought a used 2011 APEX SE from Kip. That SE has well over 10K trouble free miles and we ride in all kinds of junk me on and Apex XTX. I will admit the 136 mono was much more plush than the new SS or the 144 Ck that I have but but all in all they are all point and shoot trail sleds. If bobsledder wants to test ride a Vector or Polaris or anything else used Pat's is the place to visit. Kip has let me test ride whatever is sitting out front and this allows me to get a feel for many types sleds and puts a big smile on my face. We have been buying sleds from Pat's for years now and his test ride policy is outstanding...same thing with their sister shop M&M. It was actually Chad that reeled me in at M&M at Yamaha factory test ride in December 2007 what a blast that was!!! :)

I absolutely agree with your assessment WD on snobuilder, and XXX007. And that's the way it should be done!!! Lets just have some nice lighthearted debates, and your right as to try to keep it on subject!!! How ever, good luck with the "subject" part of it. It's just human nature. Just a little provocation now and then never hurts as it keeps the blood flowing to give life to this site??? And with that, I say so what!!!!!!!!!!

Yo Tracker....daddy told me something like "sticks 'n stones will break my bones.....". I'll be on my death bed still making TANK jokes about Yamaha's. It's an indispensable way of life, come every fall.
Actually I was disappointed with SB's reaction (lack of) - I must be losing my troll skills, or all this airplane talk is giving me a false sense of bravado. LOL!

Sorry about that Tracker!!! I didn't mean bad by leaving you out. How ever, you Tracker have never been too rough on anyone, in anyway. You always seem to hold your own in calm, and cool way!!! Hey let the SEASON begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XXX007 don't be calling snobuilder out just yet!!! My bet is he's just laying low a bit here and now. He's still got some of that snoblower stuff left in him. And with that, I say so what!!!

UM, yea,....like I said.....Apex is the perfect trail sled.

The wet weight of the 2017 cross country cat 800 is over 626#'s

The "435#" pro s wet weight is 550#'s....LOL......

Ask her this question? How would you like your sled to perform in rough trail conditions? If she wants the lightest handling best suspension get her a 600 etec with R-Motion or a 600 Polaris Axys. If she wants to bump and bounce around like a heavy truck and be tired from doing it then get her the Yamaha. The Yamahas are good sleds for long fast straight stretches but nobody likes riding them in 20 miles of tight twisty trails with moguls. There is a reason you don't see Apex, Viper or Vector running sno cross events.

You can't beat the light handling feeling of the Ski Doo 600 or Polaris 600 sleds and they still have plenty of power to keep up with other sleds.

The 900 Ace Ski Doo is a great 4 stroke you want light steering and a four stroke. It is not a fast sled so if she likes speed go 800 or 850.

If you still want Yamaha the Vector with power steering is a good machine and the EPS starts 2011.
