HELP WANTED; 1265 Lombardi, Green Bay.

I was surprised they let McCarthy go during the season, I expected it, but thought it would be after the last game. I think they'll take their time in the interview process, plenty of time for pick o' the litter. I hear the guy at Oklahoma might be ready. Josh D. from New England, and I wouldn't rule out Mike Pettine. He's done pretty well with what he had to work with and he's already on the staff.

So, who would you like to see as the next Head Coach in Green Bay? Rumors are welcomed and Damn Lies are acceptable.:snowman:

Patriots Josh looks to be biding his time, and staying with a proven winning team until it's his turn??? I have lost a lot of my confidence in the Packers org over the last 2 years. They will need to earn it back. The firing of McCarthy, the way it was done that is, really disappointing to me. I'm not sold on the GM, and he's got a lot of work to do. They will need a whole bunch more than Rodgers, and a few others to be a winning team again. Can't say we didn't see it coming though sad to say???

The Pack locker room had to be a mess to fire coach M now. The interim coach will do the best he can but usually not the guy. New head coach is hired then if still losing next the players get fired. The Packers are due for disorganization but I’m not sure how long Rogers will wait for a championship team? It will be an interesting time for Packer fans usually a rock solid organization not so much currently. Time will tell.

You guys are missing one little detail. What if this is the beginning of the great Arizona Dynasty. What if they really are not bad at all and will go on a 47 game winning streak? The next 3 Superbowls are won by them in blowouts. Could happen.

Is this the leading edge of the future of trading Rodgers whitedust??? Rodgers hasn't helped his own value any this year??? Maybe just leaning on his huge contract??? There seems to be more "wrong" here than shows!!!

If Rodgers were smart, he would retire at the end of the season. IMO, his run is done & he should get out while he is healthy enough to enjoy the money he's made over the years.-Mezz

Rogers not playing with a losing team he will want out if that’s the case. Packers could save a bunch of money trade for picks and players. Could be a win/win depending on who and what? I can’t see much future for his skills in the near future at GB.

You PACK fans are hilarious - yeah, its Rodgers fault they are losers. Ship him to the Vikings, gladly have him on our team...… Not fiscally possible, but come on...… Did you hear the radio guys calling him a $93M paper weight a few weeks ago?? LOL - I think they should have fired Rodgers, and kept McCarthy. That would have only helped the rest of the division.

I saw this over on ProFootballTalk and thought it worthy of sharing;

We thank Mike McCarthy for his years here. He is a good man. No one stays head coach of a NFL team for 25 years anymore. It was time and inevitable. Mike will land a head coaching gig soon and some team will get a good leader and a quality man. Once a Packer always a Packer. Best of luck to you coach.

I believe one reason this move was made in season rather than on black Monday is because Gutekunst has someone in mind for the job and wants to work on getting that person in place as soon as possible. Mark Murphy needs to and would be smart to give full control to Gute on who he wants to hire. It is imperative the head coach and GM’s relationship is strong from second one of the hire. Mark knows this. I’m very sure Mark Murphy will be asked at the presser today if Gute will be given full control on who he wants to hire as head coach.

The new head coach will hire his own staff and I am hoping that Mike Pettine is somehow retained as DC. I don’t count on this, but I feel Pettine has this defense on the right trajectory and it would only help the new head coach to keep a solid established DC in place. We assume a more offensive minded head coach will be hired, but that is not a certainty either.

Just for the record, I am NOT a PACKER BACKER, never have been. If they are all that's left out of the Midwest, I will support them, other than that, fa get aboud it!! Just my opinion about what I think Rodgers should do, his hay days are at the end of the runway. Just my .02, no offence intended.-Mezz

McCarthy did a very nice job for a long time with the Pack, but his time in Green Bay was overdue by at least 8 games. he should have been let go last year. I wish him nothing but the best and some team will be very happy to have him. His system, simply put, was no longer working in Green Bay.

I am willing to bet both Gute and Murphy have someone in mind, and will have the deal done prior to the playoffs this year. maybe behind closed doors, but have something complete.

Your comments are far from offensive - and getting out healthy with all that dinero is a smart decision. But these guys are competitors, deep down they want to win, and play forever.

With that out of the way, I think Rodgers has some good years left, good enough to make a run at the title again. I just find it funny that the sentiment in Sconnie is that it is Rodgers fault this team is losing.

I live in Wisconsin, listed to at least some sports talk every day and have never heard anyone blame Rodgers till here. I don't think it's overwhelming sentiment that it's his fault. Many more people happy coach is gone. It's obvious players were not responding to McCarthy anymore. It was time. He has not improved at all in his reign. Same kick butt first half coach but cannot make adjustments. I would have fired him after that debacle in Seattle NFC championship game. That was unforgivable. It was time, for sure.

I'm a little surprised too at the animosity towards Aaron. Watching Sunday's game I was reminded of the dark days of the 70's and 80's in Green Bay. With the likes of Scott Hunter, John Hadl, & Randy Wright. Rodgers has more talent in his big toe than those three combined. Let's be thankful for the last 26 years with the likes of Favre & Rodgers under center. Sure, Favre was kind of a flake towards the end and Rodgers has the big contract and dates all the hot women. I gotta believe that with new talent through the draft and a new coach to challenge Rodgers we'll be doing OK.

(Didn't mean to rant there but I guess I did)

I should clarify that I am not blaming Rodgers for anything, there has been a clear disconnect between coach & team as a whole. I just don't see a whole lot of productive years left. He, like any true competitor will not give it up until they are beat to ****, kind of hard to truly enjoy retirement in pain.-Mezz
