    Polaris Mutt Mod

The progress pictures Sure look great Kelly! We finally have snow here, but the ground is warm still so we will have to wait before we can make tracks that don't destroy the landscape 😀. That mutt mod is going to get a lot of attention when you get it done.... all the subtle changes will have...

Vintage weekend Jay Middlesteadt #297 was #1 qualifier at 34.291 seconds. During Friday night thunder he was swapping spaces with Matt Goede #28 and beat him with horsepower to the checkered flag. That gave him pole position for Sunday WC....I will say it's the first time I saw anyone pass Matt...

Off trail riding on the local news

I don't think anyone on this website has trouble understanding the issue of off trail riding on private land........ it's been going on too long already. The question is how can we educate the masses without alienating them from the clubs or state association? On one side we all love fresh...

Seriously, with the gps availability on newer sleds, eventually (5years max) your sled will tell on you. Law enforcement just needs the tools and an app. You have the VIN and gps....Then you will be forced into making a decision knowing the consequences.......

My Third (and Fourth) vintage sled projects..... 1979 Polaris TXL 340 @ Centurion 500

Yes and no Kelly! It's an awesome event, but when you're wrenching you're not watching so I didn't get too many pictures this year. More fun when you don't have issues either! Last year I had another guy helping, which helps a lot. That scorpion was one cool machine, and it was ifs sled😀. The...

My Third (and Fourth) vintage sled projects..... 1979 Polaris TXL 340 @ Centurion 500

Here's the last few.... #28 is from Minnesota Matt Goede, last year's vintage WC winner. Unfortunately for him, he was taken out by another racer who broke his outside ski in turn 4, which caused his sled to drift up the track and hit 28 sending him into the bales. A broken spark plug & wire...

My Third (and Fourth) vintage sled projects..... 1979 Polaris TXL 340 @ Centurion 500

Well I have a few pictures, and a story to tell about Eagle River Vintage Weekend. I went back this year, mostly as a pit crew for my friend and his son. Last year's event was the first time his kid got to ride the new super mod 440, and he went into the hay bales on his first lap. They had the...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

That's looking good Kelly! I can't believe how much better it looks with the big fins😀and the 1972 hood. I wish I had the skills to bend aluminum like that 👍. I am still waiting for a chance to start working on mine. Got home from Eagle River on Monday, after 5 days of wrenching and pushing...

    Polaris Mutt Mod

Hi Kelly, that looks good sitting in there..... but I have a question? Is the belt going to clear the fins? The reason I ask is as your speed increases and the belt rides up towards the top of the primary clutch, the angle of the belt might interfere with the fins on the cylinder. On the later...

My Third (and Fourth) vintage sled projects..... 1979 Polaris TXL 340 @ Centurion 500

This cover is the same as the TXL I just did last year, but that TXL looks much better than this one. I took another seat apart to compare the foam around the inner trunk, and it might be marginally better in that one spot. The problem is the foam usually gets hard/brittle down low around the...

My Third (and Fourth) vintage sled projects..... 1979 Polaris TXL 340 @ Centurion 500

No offense Mezz.. I actually took it apart Twice and tried to get it better, but seems the foam is just too short. I thought about adding a second board on top, or I could shorten the frame, but that will make the door taller. I don't want to shorten the door too. This is the nicest foam...

My Third (and Fourth) vintage sled projects..... 1979 Polaris TXL 340 @ Centurion 500

Well today I painted the tank mount, and kinda finished the seat. The cover might stretch out a little more, so I left some extra in case I have to pull some staples and tighten it up. I only use stainless steel, so they won't rust. I have a few more pictures, but it's not on the sled until I...

Got the initial stretch on for now, need to get it tightened up more, but it's looking better. Sure works better with more hands helping.......
