Where can one put their money these days as a fair investment?

I suggest government backed investments, cd’s (limit yourself to $250k at any one institution to keep w/in FDIC or FSLIC insurance or go with T-bills). I would stay away from RE. At 66 we are the top of the bell curve and our bodies will force Baby boomers to sell properties we can no longer...

    Any good movies out there?

I finally gave up the other evening and went with the The Hustle with Hathaway and Wilson. Bad. Next night I choose Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (I figure a old classic). Immediately realized The Hustle was a female version. How didn’t we catch that the night before, because it was so mind numbing we...

    Any good movies out there?

My wife and I will look over movies without finding anything. Generally waste 45 minutes of life that we will never get back. Once we give up we put on a recorded episode of ”Who’es line is it anyway”. Love Jack Ryan but sooooo long between “seasons. Sadly we binge a new season in a couple days...

    Home Wreckers

He had me going with the “calling in the airstrike”!! How cool would that have been. We had a picker come through and he gutted everything before our demo. All that remained were the concrete block walls.

    BoonDocker's crossing the trail.

I agree. A guy can dream. Over the last couple years we have seen a stepped up effort outside Marquette. Well, more so their vehicles parked with their sleds nowhere in sight. With the uptick in riding on private property, woodies freelancing powerlines, woodies ripping into trails, maybe a...

    BoonDocker's crossing the trail.

We saw the same on January and February rides. Once we approached a group in front of us in some tight twisties, out of the woods comes a woodie and fortunately the guy in front of us reacted in time while our group watching in slow motion were able to react as more woodies followed. Whenever...

What makes us ride where we do?

It is like a chess game. We have based out of the same place for over 12 years (owners haven’t raised rent and stopped advertising in winter bcuz they like us). My buddies live in Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan. We arrive Saturday or Sunday, make a quick ride to Foggys or Buckhorn for dinner. We...

What amount of miles on a sled scare you?

For me when given the chance to find a Timken bearing equivalent I use them.

What amount of miles on a sled scare you?

Indy and Hoosier, I had a interesting conversation earlier this month about ”bearings” while stopped on the trail. The gentleman would not devolged his company (bearings supplier) but said for many years now their auto mfg bearing rejects are gobbled up by Poo and Cat. This discussion came up as...

What amount of miles on a sled scare you?

Of the people buying used sleds, what is their knowledge of sleds? You bring up a good point about a mfg date as a “line in the sand” which is where I kind of go also. But for me having followed sleds for a long time brands, model years, motors (2 stroke vs 4), original owner (and my perception...

    Snow Removal

Yep. This is our fourth big snow this winter and the 18”, gone in 3 days, 30” gone in 4 days. The snow from two weeks ago melted two days ago to give us this snow, wtf. Our lake froze two weeks ago and was moaning all week and started to open back up two days ago.

    Snow Removal

Ariens 30” walk behind, JD 1026 (with soft cab) with front end pto blower, and a Stihl backpack. Wife likes to shovel and “scalp” the edges so I have to wait until she gets the driveway done so I can take care of the neighbors! Bought a second identical Ariens for the daughter’s house. Works...

Enclosed trailer purchase.. looking for help

A buddy of mine custom built a trailer to be a hauler and rv. He went with IT (InTech) out of Indiana. They are known for their auto race trailers and the quality is threw the roof (perfect weld beads, etc.) You start with cad cam design plans to custom reinforcements, holes, windows, doors, AC...

    Munising and East?

Lots of available loops from Wetmore. As others mention, GM (crazy 8’s with Lake Superior stops), Seney, Hot Springs (raft open all year), Eben ice caves, Lakenland, Miners Castle. If conditions warrant (wholly woop trails, standing water on trails) we trailer to the Plains and ride off trail...

    Munising and East?

Your best bet for having snow would be to trailer to the Kingston Plains rather than Seney. Hop on M28 and turn left in Shingleton. Road dead ends into H58 (turn right) which will dead end (no longer plowed) at the Plains. There is a large parking lot for trailers and such. Drop and play. Trail...

    3.0 Baby Duramax

Riding buddy had the Ram baby diesel but sold it last year. Everytime in the winter he would leave Munising it would go into lip mode. Escanaba shop would bring it in for a hour to warm it up, then fine to Iowa. Known issue with the engine having some exterior part that freezes (like some BMWs)...
