    911, What's Your Emergency?

The wife buys a copy of the book Exorcist. After reading the first few chapters she realizes the story is evil and throws it in the fireplace. The next day, the husband buys the exact same book, takes it to his shop and carefully chars the edges with his propane torch. That night before bedtime...

    Value of memorabilia

I don't want to be harsh here, but I think you've got a niche market and need to price accordingly. I recall the name and some of the stunts but it was long enough ago that there will be limited interest from the general public. If he's known locally, I would target that area. If he's...

    Tough Sledding at Ski Doo

North America's warmest winter on record put a chill on snowmobile sales at BRP Inc., which saw profits plummet last quarter as a result. "I have been in the business for a long time and saw several challenging seasons. But it's the first time that I've seen such difficult conditions," said CEO...

    Retirement Scenario

Excellent point regarding healthcare. Both my parents and in-laws were 2 hours from a hospital that could treat them. I recall Dad had at least one helicopter ride to the E.R. and a couple more in the ambulance. Otherwise they were on their own at all times of the day and night, good weather and...

    The Moonshiner Cow Shoes

During Prohibition (1920-1933), American moonshiners needed to dodge the police. So, they invented heifer-heels. These shoes made them resemble cows when moving through fields, preventing the cops from tracking their footprints.

    The Last of the Yamaha's

50 years from now, one of Skiroule's descendants will be dragging one of these out of an old barn somewhere. A little paint, a little polish, and it'll look like new again!:)

    The Last of the Yamaha's

Click on the link for the last year of the Yamaha Snowmobile models. The announcement came last June that they would be getting out of the snow business and that day has come. I never owned one of their snow machines, but I think their engines in other products I've owned are second to none...

    Retirement Scenario

Here's my two cents. Advice from my Dad years ago, "Do everything you can to pay off your mortgage early". And he was right, it's amazing how much money that frees up for things like a "place up north", toys, college, etc. The world has changed since he told me that. Today, most people you know...

WHAT IS WITH ALL THE ADS???

I'm told our concerns will be passed on to the programmers to find a fix. Let's give it a day or two for improvements.

    TIME TO CALL IT ?

I'm quite sure that frost depth is measured from the surface down to where the frost/frozen ground ends. I also agree with others, we need the moisture and snow is probably a better form than rain. Either way, it looks like it's going to be a mess for a few days.

    TIME TO CALL IT ?

Yeah, mine was put to bed for the summer weeks ago. C'est la vie until next year. On a side note, the ice was gone from Lake Winnebago on the last day of February. Any "old timer" will tell you that's never happened in modern times. 2024, a strange year thus far for weather, politics, and Lord...
