    Clutch maintenance - worn parts

Clutches are one of those areas I'm not super comfortable with other than taking them off (water trick works every time!), putting them on and changing springs/weights. I clean the surfaces before every trip, but beyond that I don't have the knowledge to mess with them. We put on maybe 500-800...

    Grand Lake Colorado information

Never personally been to Grand Lake, but follow their groomers FB page pretty closely as it's relatively close to Steamboat where we ride (same state anyway. LOL!). They also have a website www.grandlaketrailgroomers.com which has an "area information" tab that will give you local sled rental...

    Snowies or Grand Lake?

Just returned from the Snowies last night. Snow is excellent. They finally started getting hammered the past couple of weeks. It was pretty bad prior to that. I would not recommend it for mostly trail riding.... Groomers only go out at night, so with the amount of traffic they had this past...

What trip(s) have you cancelled so far?

Pathetic season out there. Last season was absolutely un-believable thou! Out there pretty much every-other-weekend Christmas thru Spring Break. Nearly 100% certain we won't make it once this year. Pretty sad as we've made it out there at least once every season for the past several.

Still "might" get a week of riding in 🤞

Second trip (and likely last with SB to Mexico coming up) is about a week out. They don't have as much snow as CO did for our first trip, but hoping they get dumped on between now & then.

How many folks are taking the money they are not spending and saving for a side by side??

except a powder filled meadow with heavy snow falling over your bars with blue bird sky around 30 degrees. But.... We are in the same ballpark.

What trip(s) have you cancelled so far?

Going to interject some POSITIVE VIBES onto this thread in hopes that it will turn around for other areas. Best snow we've ever ridden two weeks ago in CO. Untouched powder.... ALL.... DAY.... LONG!!!!!! Truly epic day of riding and my sons first time ever out to the "real" mountains (Black...

Mild & Crappy for January in the Keweenaw

We had a fair bit in IA, but it's raining and all being washed away. We are done.

looking at ski doos, need advise

Don't know much about Doo's other than we rode with a guy that had one last w/e. He hit a tree and bent his bumper. We worked on it on the mountain and PURELY based on how difficult it was to get the hood / side panels off & on, I can confidently say that I will never own a Doo in my lifetime...

    Refrigerators

didn't read all the other comments, but from what I've learned is make sure whatever you get has local repair shops for that particular brand. LG and Samsung are notorious for NOT having authorized repair shops. So they become a very expensive paperweight at that point.... you (basically)...

    Colorado

Not particularly. They do some grooming but it's not every day. Typically hit them 1-3 times a week. For the northern section of CO, North Routt Snow Riders is your club to follow for updates on grooming.

    Colorado

If you are itching for snow, Colorado has all of it and more!!! Just got back from riding Hahn's Peak area about 40m north of Steamboat. Stayed at Steamboat Lake Outpost (formerly known as Hahn's Peak Roadhouse). Deepest snow we've ever ridden and un-touched pow all day long! Getting there was...

    Early Season Checklist

I hear that! Some years we might not get to everything on that list, but seasons like this and no snow to play in, we get to all of it.

    Early Season Checklist

My checklist for each sled: General pre-season maintenance… We drop the primary & secondary to Thunder Products Clutching booth at Hay Days to be serviced. You can service them yourself if desired. Before installing secondary > Grease bearings behind it with a needle tip Install primary and...

    JD tribute in SnoGoer

It was a good article. Still lost without his forecasts... My days are not complete.... Don't know if we should be headed to Texas for snow? Wait it out up here? Florida maybe? Please, for the love of God, can we get some sort of direction on where to head??? Kidding of course (but do miss John...

    Inline trailer loading

Doesn't really matter. You'll ALWAYS need to work on the one you can't easily get too..... As is the case with my bullnose front (no drive-out) in-line anyway. LOL!

    John Dee

gasped out loud when I just saw this. Very sad to hear. As others mentioned, his journals and his forecasts are a part of our daily lives, especially during "snow season." I too often send screen shots of the brightly lite snow forecast maps to friends / family to show my excitement. Honestly...

    Winter Tires

That's what I'm saying. I know ice is challenging regardless, but the compound + tread pattern on snow tires has gotta help a fair bit I would think. I certainly don't think the big nobs on AT tires does any good on ice.
