    10 feet

I was thinking about this thread and was curious how much snow the area got, so I did a bit of googling. Northstar at Tahoe (a ski resort on the north side of Lake Tahoe) got 117" of snow Xmas week. Also, the UC-Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab on Donner Pass (just west of Lake Tahoe) received...

the Big Fitz 46 Years Later

Thanks for posting. I live in Duluth and when the wind is really blowing in off the water, I often wonder (and comment to my wife) what it would be like to be out on the big lake during a big blow. The museum at Whitefish Point is amazing. Very sombering. Also, the Valley Camp ship museum...

12 Feet of Snow in 48 hours

Has anyone seen any snowfall reports from Alaska? I saw one news article that said it is "likely" that over 10 feet has fallen in the mountains, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

12 Feet of Snow in 48 hours

That's crazy! I followed one of the links in the story you referred to and saw that Michigan's 3-day snowfall record is 60.0 inches (assuming I read the chart properly). That's pretty crazy, too.

Have you heard of the lost "Wall of Silver" mine in the Keweenaw?

I was watching a TV show this evening and they mentioned the lost "Wall of Silver" mine in Michigan. This website discussion suggests it may be near Phoenix, MI. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/treasure-legends-michigan/111596-tale-wall-silver-mine-up-keweenaw.html I love a good lost...

Is there anywhere in the UP where natural snow lasts until July?

On my morning jog, I sometimes ponder the heavy things in life. I seem to recall some pictures posted on this forum several years ago showing John and others riding in early June on a few patches of snow way up high on the spine of the Keweenaw. Did this happen or am I completely...

    Question about snowmobiling at night.

Hi everyone. First, I'm not a snowmobiler, so this might be a silly question. I'm simply a snow lover and I visit this site to learn more about weather and general goings-on in northern WI and the UP. I really enjoy going for a drive in the middle of the night, say 2-3am or so. I find it...

Interactive hour-by-hour retelling of Edmund Fitzgerald's final voyage

Hello. Tomorrow is the 45th anniversary of the Fitz going down, so I was looking up some information on her final voyage. I stumbled across this NOAA website, which I found interesting. There is nothing particularly new here, but I like the way the information is presented. You may (or may...
