FAKE NEWS....not true

It's derby week...you can bet Vilas will open if the businesses have any say in it....thats a HUGE chunk of money miss out on if they stay closed...these guys don't care if it's thin...they'll ride dirt if they have to ...and let's be real here...that trail through eagle river gets pounded down...

Lake Nokomis is being marked Tomorrow and Thursday, and several other smaller lakes will also be marked......so we are ready to go when trails can be opened...we are also packing/panning what we have...so we'll have a nice base...all we need is some more snow, and we'll be off and running

Since I last posted we got more snow...it just kept snowing...its between 5 and 6 inches...should be able to at least run the lakes...and i expect the clubs to be out packing/panning trails...hopefully get some of the lakes marked too

And it just keeps snowing...add another inch...puts us over 5 as well, and currently snowing sideways...temp dropping and very windy...our club also went out tonight to pack trails...this will be a nice base...just need some more...plenty of ice on the lakes here

Of course after I shoveled my decks off...it starting snowing again...we got another 1 1/2...so we are just over 4 inches...still lightly flurrying ...but i think it's done for the most part...what a pleasant surprise...originally a dusting to an inch expected..so four inches is nice...another...

We got 2 1/2 overnight...and it just started snowing again...nws saying another inch or two possible today...so we may end up with 4 plus 😁...gotta love Alberta Clippers

and NWS Green Bay is now saying this .... "Confidence is increasing for hazardous travel from Sunday into Sunday night due to accumulating snow." ( for north central Wisconsin)...remember they were saying only a dusting to just an inch yesterday...so they have increased snow totals in 24 hours...

I know, but at least it's something.....I'll take what ever we get...anything over two inches gives me some lube to run the lakes around here...I just need to get her out and burn the old fuel out of her...if that means running around the lake 100 laps...I'll do it...lol

Finally a little snow in our forecast...might see a half an inch over night tonight into friday..and now it looks like a little measurable snow Sunday Through Monday..possibly 2 to 4...I guess we'll see...at least it's something...we are making great ice with anywhere from 10 to 14 inches being...

It's been cold and we are making good ice..there is nearly 12 inches in spots...much better than we were last year at this time....however we need snow...as cold as it's been, we need some snow to go pack a few swamps.....so far...there is nothing in the extended forecast 7 to 10 days out....its...

Yes sir...the ice is getting thick....10 to 12 inches is common....currently 2 below zero...just waiting for snow.

Just saw this on one of our local Tv stations....."We still have a chance for snow next week. However, it’s starting to become possible that snow could pass south of us completely, so stay tuned for more updates on potential snowfall totals."....smh

Welp...nothing good to report..the rain and warm temps melted what little snow we had, and the lakes are a mess.....the colder weather expected this week should tighten the lakes back up...but the swamps are a whole different issue....as somebody else mentioned it's hit the reset button...we...

CURRENT VIEW, BAY BEHIND MY WORK....DEPRESSING

saw alot of trucks and trailer heading north on hwy 51 yesterday and today....it's unfortunate for us here...I fear another late start/no start is going to close alot of these smaller businesses (they limped through last year)...it's a major ouch for our economy here in the Northwoods

AND I'm sure you guys have everybody and their uncle riding there this weekend.....and they will ride in the rain, and burn the trails down to the mud.

UPDATE...we have light mist...been misting on and off since last night...temps stayed in the 30's over night....lakes look like crap already, with water and slush on top of the ice...we were seeing 8 to 10 inches of ice on most area lakes...not sure how bad this will effect it...but it's ugly...

Well they whiffed on this forecast...originally 1 to 3 inches here.....then down graded this morning to a dusting to an inch....but we got NOTHING (not even a dusting)....smh
