    My sons adventure

So my son lives out in Butte MT and was out snowmobiling the previous saturday with some friends by Anaconda, MT. They were starting to head in and he looked at his Onyx app and thought it showed they could connect to the trail by dropping down a steep slope into a bowl area. So he had his...

    Utah Trip

So we survived anther trip to Beaver Creek Lodge in Logan Canyon. Weather was absolutely perfect, snow was good. Snow depth was 97" at one spot where we measured and while they got 12" of new snow right before we got there we didn't get any while we were there. Had guides for all 3 days and they...

    TKI Belt Drive conversion

So I'm not sure if anybody on this board has done this but I decided to install one of these belt drive kits on my 2021 SKS. For those not familiar with it what it does is remove the chain case, gears, and the chain and replaces them with pulleys and a belt. Pretty simple install other than one...

    West Yellowstone trip

Just got back from West Yellowstone where I spent a week riding with my son. He's going to college at Montana Tech in Butte so we met for his spring break. While the snow wasn't over the hood deep except for a couple meadows we got into we had a great time. He's a tight trees type of guy while I...

    North Shore riding

Got up to the cabin near Finland and there’s plenty of snow. The local clubs are are just starting to whip them into shape. Yesterday the local Moosewalk trails and Finland trails were all being groomed, the Tomahawk trail was perfect, and hopefully last night the NSST was getting groomed. Went...

    trailer shopping

Starting my shopping process for a new trailer. What are good dealers in WI, MN that people have had good luck with? I know inventory is thin right now so it'll take some work but not in a real hurry. Thanks!

    question on trailer size

Well, now that I got all my kids out of the house its time to start looking for a new enclosed trailer. I'd like to be able to haul 3 sleds in a pinch but usually just two. I'd like a 7.5 or 7' wide, how long do I need to go for lets say 2 144"'s and a 155". I'm thinking maybe a 16-17' box and...

    Empty nesters now!

Just got the last kid off to college. My son Trent is going to Montana Technical university, MTU, for Civil Engineering Technology. We took him out there and he started orientation on the 18th and after a couple of days with him in Butte, MT my wife and I headed up to Glacier NP area for 4 days...

    Always wear your helmet!

Had a little OTB action on my mtn bike Sunday night. Had a pedal strike on a rock on a fast downhill section and over the bars I went. Bounced along the trail on my head/face/shoulder for 15-20' and just layed there for a minute or so to determine if I was OK. Thought I had blood running down my...

    Utah trip

We survived another trip to Utah snowmobiling. First day out there the snow in the flats was hard due to strong winds but it kept snowing the whole time we were there and on day 2 & 3 our guide kept us in fresh and first tracks all day. Snow rolling over the hoods on the last day...

    heading west in the morning

Got the gear packed up and we are headed for Utah in the morning. Out to Beaver Creek Lodge in Logan Canyon. They got great snow over the weekend and are supposed to get dumped on Thurs-Sun which luckily enough corresponds with our visit. Taking my son with this time so hopefully there isn't too...

    actual snowmobiling discussion!

Fun to wake up Sunday morning to some new snow up at the cabin. Not a ton of it but 7" on top of the marginal snow there made for a fun day for my son and I.

    New sled

The new sled made it home finally today. Spent some time in the shop bonding with it. Added a B&M front bumper, a skid plate, Rox hand guards, and a windshield bag. Looking forward to getting more than a few laps around the house on it.

    My sons new sled

So my son saved me some money and bought himself a sled. Now he gets to maintain it and pay for parts. Found a good deal on a 2020 850 SKS 155”with 1400 miles. . He wanted a 146” track but was having trouble finding one for a reasonable price. Hopefully I’m done digging his butt out after this...

    Last one done

My son had his abbreviated HS graduation last night. Each kid walked across the stage with only his parents in the auditorium while they videotaped it. Strange and unfortunate finish to his senior year but very proud of him . Felt bad for him and his friends. On to bigger things now!

    Last ride (maybe)

Took a quick trip up to the cabin yesterday to sneak in one final ride. Got about 60 miles in. Beautiful weather, about 55 and sunny. This is the latest I’ve ever really gotten out for a real ride. First weekend in December til the last weekend in April.

    North shore 3/22

Decided to practice some social distancing and headed up to the cabin for maybe the last weekend of riding, masks, googles, gloves! Tons of snow still and trails were great in the morning, little whooped up late Saturday night when we got back on them but good. The Finland and silver bay clubs...

    North shore 2/1

My wife, son, and I got up to the cabin this weekend for some riding. Rode mostly trails on Saturday and they were all very good. Sunday my son and I got out into the back country and while the snow was a bit ore set up we still managed to get stuck a time or two! Nearest thing we saw though was...

    North shore riding

Got up to the cabin near Finland yesterday with my son and a friend of his. Wow was it deep. Areas we were stuck in it was mid chest deep, roughly 56-60". Spent about 1 1/2 hrs trying to get out of the last couple stucks. Glad I had two 17 yr old strong kids with to help dig out sleds! Sorry...
