    1st "Snowmobile Races"

Very cool! I had read that the Model T had been retrofitted with skis for the front & track kit for the rear so postal deliveries cold be done in the winter. Our girls went to Camp Luther for a few summers, they enjoyed it, nice place. Thanks for sharing that.

Mild & Crappy for January in the Keweenaw

Currently 36 degrees & the snow is on the melt down. The only thing that is keeping that to a slower pace is that it has been & looks to remain cloudy. Highs to remain in the mid 30's with lows of 33. This pattern looks to continue through the first 2 weeks of February. It figures, I just...

looking at ski doos, need advise

When the platform of the site changed, everybody went to 0 postings. I think Indy was 15 when he first started on here? Can't be sure, but I do remember his little modified metal storage shed for his sled, good stuff.

Depth will vary based on area, & things are rideable, higher terrain areas would be the best bet for a reasonable base. I would stick to the trail, too sketchy to venture off due to hidden hazards & not adequate cover.

I really can't say with certainty how it will be in that time frame. I will say the traffic here has not been hard hit as yet. What happens in the next few days weather wise is another story all together. Temps are expected to be in the mid thirties by Thur, Fri, Sat & remain cloudy, then cool...

    Refrigerators

I don't want to take anything away from Frigidaire, or GE for that matter, but, when it comes right down to it none of these are made to last anymore. The most one can reasonably expect out of todays major appliances is 7 to 10 yrs. I have lived in my home for 35 yrs now & I have been through 3...

A fresh 4" of LES unexpectedly found us on the morning of Saturday Jan 20th. Temps remained in the teens through Sunday with no new snow to speak of (trace). Cloudy today with temp in the 20's. Forecast ahead looks to remain cloudy and we could see some 30's by mid-week to with a chance of some...

Awoke to an additional 3" of LES this morning, temp was a bit cooler at +9 degrees with a light snow. It appears the LES is winding down a bit, 1-2" possible today with another 1-3" possible tonight & Friday. Temps on Saturday expected near +20 degrees & partly sunny, good riding weather at...

    New Journal is up

Keep in mind, the "Jake" doesn't get a whole lot of snow fall like the rest of the Keweenaw. This is the reason a lot of the deer migrate there for the winter, that being the low snowfall & the surrounding woodlands as well as the warmer temps due to the close proximity to the big lake.

Well the snow guns keep running up here. Awoke to a fresh 4" this morning with much better temp at +14. Schools in Houghton & Keweenaw counties were called off today. Didn't quite understand that until I got out at 6am to shovel plow & saw the reason, that being white out conditions at times...
