Reminder that the “Vintage World Championship Snowmobile Derby” 24th annual races begins today 1/9 through Sunday 1/12. derbycomplex.com We’re taking the grand children so they get a feel for what we rode in the day. Who would design a snow machine with the carburetor right there?😊😟

Update; the maiden ride found a water hole. The sled went in on its side and both riders flew. No injuries. Fellow sliders help them right the machine (pictured), then pull it to clean snow. Our son and daughter in law were soaked and muddy, but home safe.

    The Kee and Gogibic

We did New Years In Houghton, trucked up to Copper Harbor and could not find enough snow to unload. Twin Lakes area seemed ok, but not groomed and needs cold and snow. This new event should be the ticket.

    Munising Conditions

We talked with several sledders that were guided through the Munising area on Sunday. The woods were good but without the guide it would not have been fun. No snow since and they’re not grooming. I’m curious if the groomers get out before this cold snap?

    Giant gear bag

I bought the same bag at the same show many years ago. Filled it so full it tore. It’s too heavy for me to lift anymore. 😂 They have a life time warranty and did replace it for me once. I no longer recall the manufacturer or supplier, so I’ll live with the damaged unit.

    EUP report!

Dang beavers. They took over 30 of my 23 year old trees and an 8” oak - dropped it right on the dock. DNR gave me permission to harvest, so the population here IS down. 😉

    12/10

Rhinelander/Lake Tom on the WI River. The melt is over and we received a dusting overnight. It’s still flurrying, so the removal will have to wait. A hard freeze is on the way, which should move the trails in the right direction.
