where was this for the last 5 months?

snobuilder, thanks. Your comment made me think about how infrequently the high (or low) temperature of any given day is actually at the calculated average for that day.

How hot did it get in your area this weekend?

Yes, it's been toasty. Duluth was maybe in the mid 80s on Monday. Brainerd, MN had 89F Monday, which was a daily record as well as the highest temperature recorded in October for that town. They are predicting widespread frosts/freezes this weekend, I believe. I think the flip is occuring in...

where was this for the last 5 months?

Duluth and surrounding areas got 4+ inches of rain in a pretty short period last weekend with another 1-2 inches forecasted for tonight/tomorrow morning. It's been pretty gloomy here so I'm looking forward to some sunshine!

Milwaukee snow show is no more

I used to go to a few big trade shows in my profession (nothing to do with snowmobiles!) and the cost of booths was crazy. I can't imagine how much higher they are today!

How hot did it get in your area this weekend?

Curious how hot it got in your area? Duluth hit 97F on Sunday, which was a record for the day; it was also the highest September temperature on record. Brainerd, MN hit 102F, which was also a record.

The Leaves - They are A-Changin'

Definitely reds and yellows showing up around Duluth. There are some sections in the woods where large bunches of birch leaves have already fallen, dry and crunchy. Looks a bit like late September on the ground.

    Keweenaw's Second meaningful rain

I'm seeing area where birch trees are starting to drop lots of leaves, likely due to drought stress.

    Play Ball

I live in Duluth and have gone to several Duluth Huskies games this summer. They are in a wooden bat collegiate league and it's super fun and pretty cheap.

    The Great Outdoors

Nice pic! Enjoy your vacation! On a side note, the best thing I've ever done for my mental health is to stop watching the news (starting about 2-3 years ago). It's made a world of difference.

    Colorado springs

I always enjoy reading about summer snow. I often visit webcams and the like of ski resorts out west to see how much snow hangs around during the summer. Mammoth Mountain in California will have skiing through July; there is currently a 70-inch base. Also, Timberline Lodge in Oregon will...

    Mosquitos

Frost Advisory tonight for much of the UP and NE Wisconsin. I suspect that will damper the skeeters.

    Gordon Lightfoot has died.

That's pretty cool. We named our dog Fitzgerald (Fitzy) because of the song.

    Gordon Lightfoot has died.

I appreciate that every year in November I can check this forum and read some nice comments on Gordon Lightfoot and the power of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The lure of the lake and the northwoods is strong with you folks and I do appreciate that (even as a non-snowmobiler!).

    Northern Lights Tonight

Amazing photos. I remember seeing them quite often when I was a kid; we'd climb a ladder and sit on the garage roof to watch them. They certainly can be mesmerizing.

    April 20

I see that the 2" of snow that Duluth got today put us over the top; it has now been a record-setting snowfall season (137.2"). Nearby, Bayfield, WI destroyed its old record, with 182" so far this season. That's still nothing for you Yoopers, though!
