Solid Crossover??? Having just riden both the new Assault 144 and 136 Rush at the polaris demo ride I can say both sleds are the ticket! I think your in the dark, wake up! I agree with you on the price tags, I guess we just need to get used to the idea that a brand spanking new sled is going to cost well over 10 Large, and snowmobiling is not a sport for the unemployed. The shift models came with no graphics, cheap shocks, etc. to keep MSRP as low as possible, besides IQ is a thing of the past now...They still offer the 550 fan and 600 IQ as reasonable options. I guess the Rush Chassis is just too much R&D and tech. to offer at a cheap price.

I don't think they've dropped the ball at all, if everyone stopped being so brand-loyal most would admit the new polaris' ride is equal to if not better than any other in the industry.

I wouldn't expect to see anything in the way of DI or 4-stroke tech from Polaris in the near future. They've got their 800s resolved and from the sounds of things they've vastly improved oil economy and fuel to a small extent. It seems to me that Polaris recognizes most of their customers aren't into the 4 stroke market, so they're just leaving that to the other 3 manufacturers rather than try to compete in that segment of the market.

I'd love to order a new 800 Switch Pro-R, but I figure it would cost me at least 6K to upgrade from my 09 IQ Dragon Switch, and I wonder if it is really worth that much cash to get 3 years newer technology...on the other hand they're including one year at 0% intrest.

Spease- we may need to see if 4-star can do a 2 for 1 special!

Not brand loyal I have owned just poos for 14 years! The shift never came close to putting a dent in the entry level market like the critics predicted. I watched a 600 dragon sit at a dealer for the last two years in a good area. I doubt they ever sold it my guess it was sent into demo service then sold used. The graphics of the new sleds looks good but imo they are playing catch up and these models need to perform consistantly for at least 3 years before they get any of my hard earned cash. My friend is getting ready to pull the trigger on a new poo but he admits he is a little nervous with the 800 dabacle in the rear view mirror.

why did you not say something.we did too.....they had room on the demo tour but we thought you guys would rather hit the snow and go....so we did not even ask......
Nah... remember, we got there Sunday 9:30am & they where packing things up and had the semi ready to go by 11:30am. In talking with the Polaris guy, they had been there for 7 days already and were ready to go...

Can i ask what is everyone seeing for mileage with there 600/800, 09/or 10 sleds? Cause i assume the new 11's will be in the same range if same engine right? i see the 700 is gone and the 750 is a 4 stroke. Anyone have the 750 now? Is it anygood? With gas prices aproaching 4$ and more a gallon i find it dificult to drop 10k+ for another 10-12 mpg sled that i allready have thats has a nice looking Cleanfire Injection sticker that does nothing for mpg.

Ive thought for a few years my old man was full of crap on his etec 2 stoke mileage but when he spends $20 a day in gas and i spend $70 well a brand jump might be in order for fuel saveings alone

I have a 2010 600 RMK 144 and I usually get about 14 MPG with it. It really depends on how I'm riding it. Out cruising forest roads with the wife and kids it'll get 15-16. When I'm off trail and really hammering on it, it'll be 12-13. When it's really deep snow and we're playing in bottomless powder, 10-11.

Also, rode this last weekend with a guy on a 2011 800 ETEC Renegade. We rode pretty hard and when we filled up he usually put about 1 - 1.5 gallons less than me. But he's running a smaller track and didn't quite play as much as I do. On the other hand, he's running a lot more ponies than I am. My other buddy rides a 06 800 Gade and if I put in 6 gallons at 90 miles or so he put in 10. Just sucking gas!

09 600 Switchy and I've never seen better than 10mpgs, but I've heard of a lot better.

I made the comment to the Polaris guys at the Demo tour that fuel economy needs to be improved to be "in-line with their direct competitors" the response I got was the new motors are improving and was also told they've seen as good as 15 and as bad as 10 depending on conditions/riders. Everyone knows the etechs get better mpgs, but that certaintly isn't the only factor that determines my purchase decision.

Not quite but the 600 poo is a great motor!!!!

I ride with a guy that normally gets 15 on his cfi 600. In terms of $'s, that's close enough to anything else out there other than maybe the ACE, but that's not exactly a high performance engine.

I sure know what you mean about the gas thing I would of been happy with 100 hp Ace from Skidoo. Something that will do 85 and 25 mpg that would be good enough for me, There is always Arctic Cat will know next week.

Wow! I think I got it figured out what I want to order. read all the specs, looked at all the pics. and video and made my selection. Now to shop prices with the dealers. I do have a dealer pecking order, so lets see what happens.

Polaris is no longer "the way out" and now "purpose built snowmobiles"?? Not very catchy.

Chad@M&M

If that's all you have to complain about, I'd say they're doing pretty good. No one has a better looking lineup and offers more options for the consumer from the factory than Polaris this year, period! From all reports from this year, they have surpased Cat in the mountain segment.

One thing I've always followed in sales, you never bash the competition, it's not very becoming.

I was all about a new 137" freestyle with 800 etech, but then ski doo dealer told me new 800 etechs getting so hot guys are lucky to get 250 miles on a belt in the steep and deep.

but at least it should get 17mpgs...

What kind of gas were you putting in? even if you could get 12 gallons in that's almost $6 a gallon.
