If my memory is any good, and it's getting worse daily, I think the Sled Head 24/7 show that named 2 of the Axys sleds as sleds of the year in smooth trail and crossover named the XRS as best rough trail sled. It sounds like a great sled for those that like to jump and pound the bumps!

Yea thats why I went with the X, i dont want or need the super stiff ride that the traditional XRS comes with. My jumping days are over haha, unless im landing in some deep pow. I just couldnt believe u could go all the way soft like a standard Mxz, too all the way stiff, sounds to good to be true..........

And that's also why I'm going to order the Pro S. The Pro X is stiffer and it sits 2 1/2" higher than the Pro S and has a 1.75" track. The Pro X and XRS are purpose built and not the best for an old guy like me that likes smooth trails! :)

How do you guys feel about 1.5" & 1.75" tracks for 75% trail 25% FR riding? I do like my 144 1.25" ice ripper but feel uneasy about 1.5" & 1.75" tracks if WI goes back to dry snirty trails that we have seen so much in the past. I worry the 1.5" & 1.75" tracks will sit too high on dry trails & present hyfax wearing problems & I'm not a fan of scratchers just think they tear up trails & throw al kinds on garbage on the track in the name of lubrication.

Ya its a tuff call. After this year im leaning towards 1.5 but if its a low snow year then 1.25 would be better for trails. Kinda darned if u do darned if u dont scenerio. Dont think id ever go over 1.5 for trails. Never used scratchers and dont really kno much about them. How does that ice ripper hold up? And does it work well in an icy corner? Ive always studded my track...but was considering 1.5 ice ripper

2 ply ice ripper 1.25" 144 feels like 108 studs down the center of my prior 136 ripsaw. I would think the 1.5"ice ripper would be far better than super long studs...nothing good comes of studs when things go bad. My 1 ply doo track did not hold up hold up well started throwing studs at 5000 miles but the 2 ply Yamaha ripsaw studded was like new at 10,000 miles. So for a doo 1 ply track I would go ice ripper all the way good traction & will hold up better to mileage.IMO

I do understand your concern but a set of scratchers does not tear the trails up! Your carbides will penetrate the trail deeper and a spinning 144" track with studs does far more than a couple pieces of heavy gauge wire running down the trail. In turn the good stuff they kick up far outweighs the bad. I am a fan of the 1.5" track but those who run it will need to understand that it will take better snow conditions to feel the benefits of the track.

Just curious what year foo did you have with 1ply thought you were on Yamaha by the time doo went to 1 ply?

The 1.25" track hooked up fine on trail. Wouldn't go with anything else except the 1.25" ice ripper track.

Ya was thinking of going a little taller as i had some fun off trail last year and got stuck a pile of times on my MXZ with 1.25 track haha....i duno i have awhile to think about it.

I have the 440 Rev that came with a 1.675 track and i love that. It really hooks up in all conditions on the lake. And is a blast back home in the drifts and thru fresh snow. Only issue is low snow on trail she starts to over heat.....if i new there was going to be a ton of snow like this year its an easy descision.

Yep mountain guys have to run scratchers on trail 144 iceriper or studded hooks up pretty good & no sense in spinning track but heck I have seen poo wedge sleds dusting off the trail spinning studless tracks just depends on your riding style. Me I'm a midrange punch guy & don't get pleasure from jack rabbit starts just not good for trail conditions.IMO For me for trail riding & 25% powder scratchers would be a PITA & more destructive than constructive...but just me.:)

traded my 13 gade for a 900 2015 adrenline for the wife, traded my 14 Adrenaline 600 etec for a 2015 Renegade 600 X, thought about the X-RS, but decided on the X

I ran trails a good amount with my 2" on my switchback with no scratchers down. As long as you ain't puttin around 20 mph I had no problems with overheating. I did see the overheat light twice, once on super hardpack ice first weekend in december and again when we were doing 25 mph down the bill nichols because it was -15 degrees out. I also ran my 2.4" on trails a little bit but had scratchers down every second of it temp gauge never got about 129 degrees.

Earlier in this thread you said you rode all the 15's and the XRS is the best thing since buttered bread:) I don't follow you? No need to wait for December to ride the AXYS back to back with the Doo if you've already done what no one else has other than the magazine riders? I'm confused but that's not saying much. Maybe momoney has his own magazine? Also, nobody makes the complete package out there momoney:) If they did no one would ride anything else now would they. Oh yeah, Yamaha makes the lightest sled on planet earth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
