Lol. Anybody that buys a snowmobile as an investment is just crazy.

Anybody that pays full price is just crazy.

GRUB....if you just put the AC skis back on....lengthen the limiter strap till track is flat and run dual side by side 4 inch carbide with no studs....you won't regret it and it won't push at any speed

What about just buying the CatWinder?

Wow Grub...you sure have some issues with your sidewinder.....Everybody knows they are heavy....but honestly, I ve ridden two different models (an rtx 129, and an ltx 137)..both with Fox Iq shocks, and I thought they rode very well for a heavier sled (not as good as an R motion, but not bad)...They are not as light and snappy as an 850 (Ive ridden 4 different 850s)...but don't fool yourself...850s, stock do not run with a sidewinder....it's close for the first 500 feet, and then the winder blows by, and keeps right on going. (we have raced them head to head in the bay out back, different models for each) Unless you run short races, or have a heavily modded 850...you aren't beating a sidewinder. (that's silly talk...bar stool racing). The 850's weren't built to race 200 HP turbo sleds...they are light weight, quick, fun trail weapons...A heavier sled will beat you up, and wear you out on rough trails (this is were the 850s shine)

You'll never hear me bad mouth a yamaha engine...I don't care for Cat's build quality (fit and finish), and frankly I find yamaha to be uninterested in sleds at this point...they are just going to paint cats blue, and put stickers on them...if you like that ...cool...But I don't (as an old , longtime yamaha fan), I find it disturbing...so I will be riding ski doos. Yes I work for a ski doo dealer, ...but even if I didn't, I'd still ride ski doo at this point.

Carbide, join us on some facebook groups (Yamaha SR Viper Owners Group) people will give it straight and explain the minor tweaks needed. If I had 10K I would pony up for a winder. Viper motor is perfect for me.

I've never set foot in the bookface world and likely never will. Not my thing.

I do like the Viper as the Winder is almost overkill on the twisty wooded trails I like to ride.
The main reasons for going with a 2021 Winder is:
1. They are only offering the Viper in the GT model.
2. That SR Viper L-TX GT is still awfully spendy.
3. For a strange reason I had cheaper insurance quotes on the Winder. Likely because of the sub-1000cc (998) rating.

It is pretty helpful to join just for that reason, but totallyamaha also has a lot of people with the same help. I've done a lot of the "fixes" on my Viper so if you want to know I can PM you.

Funny insurance story;
In the winter of 2018/2019 I had a 19 850 Gade ADR and Safeco (subsidiary of Liberty Mutual) was $145 a year.
In the winter of 2019/2020 I had a 2020 850 Gade X pack and the rate skyrocketed to $319 a year. I was like why and got the usual blah.
In February of 2020 I sold the 850 X Gade and changed insurance to a 20 Gade 850 ADR and was refunded $151.

Just adding the X pack doubled the cost of insurance, pretty sad as I rode both sleds the same way.

Who knows why, more thefts of specialty package sleds, impression of a race sled..who knows.

I ride an 2017 LTX LE, first 4stroke for me. It has all of the goodies on it stage 4 TD tunes etc. 6k on it with absolutely no issues at all. It only feels heavy when moving it around in the shop. It is the best handling sled I have owned. I have had all of them. This one is most fun I have had on a sled. 4 years ago I would have never guessed I would like it this much.

Good to hear.
I ordered my 2021 L-TX SE yesterday just in time. The dealers all closed down today.
