Amsoil???

About 7 years ago I called a Amsoil rep & wanted 2 buy a 55 gal drum & he said they would make me a dealer. I told him there were about 5 dealers in my area already. He said thats ok we'll make u one 2.I thought that was kinda rude 2 the others dealers so I went & bought another brand. I'm not saying anything bad about amsoil because I run it in my 250 optimax outboard & thats because its $20 a gal instead of $39 for Merc oil. All my other 2 strokes I use Injects and thats because I can use it in chain saws, chop saws, small outboard motors, weed eaters & about 5 other 2 strokes we own. I won't say what I run in my sleds cause I don't want 2 start a argument. I'm not saying Amsoil is a bad product by any means.

Which ams oil do you run in your Optimax? I have a 2008 150 but I wasn't sure what to run.

Thanks

Being a dealer just gets ya more free stuff

Being a dealer gets you nothing for FREE. I been one for 33 yrs. and if someone called me for two 55 gal drums and they were near me, I would be on my way to the warehouse to pickup it up tomorrow.

Frankly I'd like to see the Admins remove the Amsoil account and set all manufacturer names off-limits unless a company representative is actually the person using the account.

Pretty sure my friend Richard Amatuzio Jr would not be real pleased with someone not employed by or hired to represent their product using the Amsoil name here without permission.

Amsoil does not meet BRP specs for my snowmobile which is JASO FD. Amsoil is only FC. BUT, Sea and Snow IS JASO FD, so I run that.

Nope, I'm a Patriot and refuse to be a part of any party politics period. Neither is able to make the right decision for Americans, they continue thier party's agenda and look where that has got us. <Rant off>

But I"m tyring to point out if I were to create an account with the name JohnDee on ty4stoke or HCS, I'm pretty sure John would take issue with that, especially if I was talking about snowmobiling, etc. Besides pretty sure most manufacturer names are trademarked and their use is prohibit without their expressed approval.

No, I have to buy them.

Richard Amatuzio Jr <---Who is that? 33+ yrs never heard that first name or Jr associated with them.

JASO FA – original spec established regulating lubricity, detergency, initial torque, exhaust smoke and exhaust system blocking.
JASO FB – increased lubricity, detergency, exhaust smoke and exhaust system blocking requirements over FA.
JASO FC – lubricity and initial torque requirements same as FB, however far higher detergency, exhaust smoke and exhaust system blocking requirements over FB.
JASO FD - same as FC with far higher detergency requirement.

The Amatuzio family in Duluth founded and owns Amsoil, if you didin't know that then....

I only mention JR cause he is in my generation and I know him personally. I never knew Alan or his father Richard Sr. whom played a major role in the brand.

Again back to the point, I'm 99% sure if you create and account with a trademarked name and you don't work for or were not hired to represent them, the account should be removed and name reserved for said company until they contact the website owner and use it for commercial purposes (supporting customers, advertising, etc).

Correct family, still shareholders, and still their name on the company. Regardless, did you even read my point or are you just trolling?

Polarice I run hp Injector Synthetic in my 250 opti max. I called Merc 2 see If I was still covered under warranty by using that oil & they said I was good 2 go till 2015.I use about 15 to 20 gal a year so it adds up. If u live in OH & get fishing on Erie I am jealous of u.

I think PR1 is right. We talked to his Mom when we stayed at Green Haven lodge between Xmas and New Year. I think I remember her saying something about working in Canada.

Erie is where I do most of my fishing; on the western basin. If you ever want to hit up the Walleye for the spring jig let me know. I have an 18ft. Lund that is perfect for the jig. Where I launch we just go right into the lake, sometimes less than a mile out and get our limits and do catch and release. Sometimes less than 100 feet out ;)

I also have the extended warranty on my Opti. It's good till 2013 and the dealer told me that I had to use merc oil or the warranty would be void. Then I heard that's not true from an ams dealer. Looks like I'll be switching. What's nice is that the motor doesn't use that much oil.
