Looks like some of the cost increase went into security. Got my trail pass today, there is a hologram strip on the edge of it. Depending in angle it says SECURE or GENUINE.
I know in the past some of the trail passes would say VOID if peeled off after application. View attachment 54237

I put my out of states on the clear sticker guard stickers from up north technologies.
pretty much so if I bring my trail sled for a trip early season and the M latter in the season I am not paying for 2 sleds when I only ride 1 . call it what u will it is what I do

Interesting - how many switches would the guards allow? I would love to be able to switch out windshields in Wisconsin, but they only issue one sticker per sled. No exceptions.

It would be awesome if WI and the UP would do 3 day permits for out of staters who only go to either state 1 trip per year. I live in MN and do most of my riding in MN, even with the low snow years the last 2 seasons I was still able to put on 1700 miles each season in MN. I still like to go to the UP and ride but gets expensive when you have to buy 2 or 3 trail permits at once. It adds up and when you're on a budget puts a binder on other spending when you are on a trip which means not going out for meals, having a drink or 2 at a local watering, etc. I usually go up on a Thursday morning and come home Sunday. I would be happy to pay $48 if I were going up more than 1 weekend a season. Same with WI. I know this sport isn't cheap and with the costs rising is really taking it away from a family sport unless you have unlimited income. I work hard as many others do just to go on a weekend ride. Add in my wife and boys and a one day 150 mile ride is $200 with gas and food, not including lodging. We try to stay at friends and family places to reduce lodging costs. Something has to give in this sport soon or it's going to end up being only for the rich.

Didn't know that. Always waited till first trip into Michigan and bought the trail pass at a gas station. This is first time I've bought it in advance through MSA.

Bought mine yesteday at Rogers Bar... Sue's first 2016 -2017 MI snowmobile permit. Also bought WI permit online last week see how long that takes? I didn't blink an eye got to pay to to play.
