- An eleven year old boy has a bear hunting season he'll always remember.

11-year-old Braden Burkhart from Bryant killed this 737 pound bear Saturday morning.

He was hunting with his grandpa, brother, and uncle.

This is Burkhart's first bear.

It was killed in the Bryant-Antigo area.

You can deffinately eat the meat. Its all about how it is cooked....some love it and some don't.

I had a bear steak and didn't care a whole lot for it, it was slightly undercooked but the texture was good and I believe with a bit of seasoning it could be quite nice. My wife had a bear burger and she actually liked it. I think the bear could be eaten easily if prepared to your liking.

Ch 12 NBC wjfw reorted that weight! I would bet that weight is esimated !State record was shot up by Lynx Lake in Presque Isle WI over 700 lbs.

bear meat is good my nephew got one last year and we had it for dinner and it tasted like chicken j/k was very tasty and he is making the bear head to be hung on a wall along with his 6 or 7 deer heads

there was also a bear shot near Hawkins, WI that live weight was 711 lbs, field dressed at 656lbs. It was shot by a 17 yr old.

There is a real nice 600#+ bear in the BP gas station on Hwy 8 in Tripoli, WI if you are passing through there and want to see a real nice full body bear mount on display......

There was a 700 + pounder in Phelps a couple of years ago. Town folks just waited for him to leave which he eventually did.
