Another unfortunate experience.

JD'ers please be judge and jury and tell me if I'm wrong. I had a customer come in on 3/17/2017 and buy a CDI for a Polaris Dragon. They asked me for a discount and I told them both we could not discount the new CDI but we would program it for them. They were so happy that we had the part! Now over 2 months later we get a stop payment. I contacted the customer and of course they tell me that the sled only made it 3 miles and the new CDI burnt up. I said I'm very sorry but we cannot warranty electrical parts once installed. They went on to tell me that we should've known there was something wrong. We informed them that they may want to replace the Voltage Regulator as this could be the cause of their problem which we also made them aware of that at the time of purchase but they did not feel the need to replace it. SO, are we to blame for their misfortune? I cannot understand these people and how they think. They paid for no service. They wanted to buy part only and we made that happen. Now they can just stop payment and that's that? This person is also the President of a snowmobile club in MN. Talk about tick a guy off!!!!! We did not service the sled, only sold a part for it!!

How can they stop payment? Why do the credit card companies allow this bs. Makes you want to accept cash only. Put an ATM in the front showroom. Says a lot about people who are willing to do some thing like this. I bet he would sue you for slipping and falling on ice in your parking lot too. I would expose his name and club but I am not as nice a guy as you Kip. Your a stand up guy.

Hope he comes to his senses. Sucks you even have to spend any time dealing with it. Sure your not getting rich off of the mark up on that part.

I would call that criminal. Theft by swindle!! Must be way so few places accept Discover card.... That is BS! I would let him know that you would be contacting the LAW. Whats the list price on that cdi box? 400 bucks?

Sorry to hear that Kip, I would file a small claims case. You would easily win. It will be a hassle, but at least you will get the money that you are owed.

It's over 570 dollars with tax. Oh I'm going to pursue them just based on principle alone. I'm having a hard time coping with the fact that they're laying the blame on us for the part failing. Good Lord people there's a issue with your sled that's causing it. Unbelievable.

kip....its kinda like the off trail issue up there....just say NO....if anything electrical related you say....sorry but it must go in our shop or cash only as there is no warranty..... IF YOU DO IT YOURSELF....and this is key....there is a high probability that another component is causing the issue and no credit is available on these items....end of story....see the off trail sign posted about this at the parts counter.....and maybe go ask the local car dealer how they do this also since they might encounter this a lot and have another cure....also...hes probably online bragging about this....go print out conversation so court is really short....LOL....good luck

Do what you can to get your money. On principle like you say. But don't worry. Karma will get him. Someday his wife will cheat on him with some STD ridden slime. She will then infect him with some unpronounceable disease. His organ will then turn black and fall off. Then his wife will leave him and take the house which isn't paid for yet and he will have to work until he is 75. He will have to sell all his toys and his kids will all go on drugs and live underneath overpasses in Fridgidair boxes. All he will have left is his dog and that will get bit by a rabid skunk and die. What comes around goes around. Karma.

2 months later you get a stop payment? Haven't you already collected on that? Usually a transaction on my CC bill shows up as paid within a week.

I hear ya grub. I would love to release the name but I just don't have it in me. I actually felt bad for the guy who wrecked my Sidewinder but then he has people go on and give me a bad google review and totally lie. It's a double edge sword. Damned if you do damned if you don't. The guys wife is actually worse than him, she's the one I've been dealing with and being as she doesn't understand mechanics I can't even get through to her. I'll pursue her legally and see where it goes. Hopefully since the deal took place in Michigan I'll be able to get her back here. This lady is a total piece of work, almost funny:) I do believe in Karma even though we don't always get to see it. I would have loved to charge her cash momoney but a lot of people don't have it when they are on vacation. Was trying to help but see where that got me!!! LOL!!!

I guess, at the very least at this point, do not accept Discover Card anymore, cause you just Discovered it doesn't work for you as a retailer.:redface-new: I'm sure with some savvy, you can & will get the money back, it might be a hassle, but, principle is a great motivator to right a wrong, go get'em.-Mezz

sorry to hear this and yes PEOPLE suck anymore, more than not!
its like the saying
"NO good deed goes un punished?"
had a business for a long time and , its almost hard to explain to people what you get screwed on, trying to help people at times!
my place was robbed twice, and both times, but SO called GOOD customers, they even had things on lay away when they robbed the store, and didn;t take them? LOL
they both got caught and were in jail for a long time(was a gun shop)
while they were in jail I used to get like 3 bucks a week from them, as a a WAY of them paying for damages??
was a JOKE and an insult every time I got a check from them?
when they got out, they never paid up the remaining, and wasn't worth the costs to go after them!

and that sadly is a BIG reason so many do this crap, they sort of know, its NOT worth the costs to go after them MOST times.

our laws suck any more, there weak, and no follow up, and punishments are NEVER followed thru on MOST sentencing , making it a joke, and why again so many will screw you today, they know they will get away with it more than not, and them that DO get away with it, do it even more and teach others to be scum bags as well?
even see it from parents to kids in my area> teaching them to scam and screw to get things!!

the world is going the wrong way,IMO
not enough a$$ kicking's when there needed to teach some much needed morals again!

Small Claims? More expense, more hassle; don't forget the filing fees.
"Since the year 2010, the costs of filing fees have increased in almost every state court system. Filing fees typically range from US$15 to $150, depending on the claim amount."
Even if one wins a (click →) small claims case, then it's up to the plaintiff to collect. First find the defendant's assets (more expense, more hassle). If that's successful, one can likely get an (click →) order of garnishment (or attachment), which then must be served on the plaintiff's employer or bank account (more expense, more hassle). All for what? Principle? Great concept, but not cheap.

Kip, can I buy a sled on credit card? Then cancel it 2 months later? Sorry to hear about this - I thought everyone knows electrical parts are sold without warranty. I'm surprised Discover would let them dispute it, especially 2 months later.

I sure the other 98% of people are worth it for you to have to deal with a ssclowns like this.
