Anybody ever put sea-foam into oil?

When I used pensoil I had huge parafin wax issues from that oil in a 350 Camaro. Is that the crap you speak of? or is it other stuff?

Pennzoil hasn't done this since the late 50's.

If I found a can of oil from the late 50's I'd probably put it on display and not use it in a motor.

Sounds like snake oil. Sold in the liquid mechanic isle right next to Radiator repair, fix a flat, and rod knocker begone. I never put Stabil in my boat, sleds or cars either. more snake oil. It makes one feel as good as fuel injector cleaner could. lol.

Sea Foam works well in gas for me. Straightens out old lawn tracter when crap works loose into carbs just add a little Sea Foam & mowing again. This stuff is NOT snake oil & really works as a gas additive. I would not put in oil ....just use good oil & chnage on scedule works for me.

X2. I have used seafoam in the gas in several small 2S and 4S motors and it does a good job of removing gum and cleaning the fuel system. I have also used it on Chevy V8's, put it in the oil a day before the oil change and it does flush deposts out of the oil system/engine. I have also used a product from the same company called deepcreep. You spray in a vacuum line or other intake route and it soaks in the intake as well as the piston tops/combustion chambers. Let it sit 15 minutes and then drive it like you stole it. The amount of crap that comes out the exhaust is amazing. Decarbonizes pistons and removes deposits from the intake system. Eliminated pinging on my 1998 chevy truck by doing this.

It's good stuff, not snake oil.

Okay did a field trip today to the local NAPA store, sure enough they had Sea Foam on display with many bottles gone. So it must do something. (I did not buy any) I was there for an upper control arm and a ball joint for my daughters T-Bird. Card board display ad said, "millions sold". Now whats this stuff for again? And how do I tell if something I have with a motor needs it?

So I pour it in my gas tank, it loosens stuff in there? that stuff goes to the fuel pump and then what sticks or loosens there? then the gas filter, does that catch the stuff? So I need to get a gas filter too? then what happens? does all this stuff go into my injectors? or do those get cleaned too? then the stuff must surely go thru the motor and then what? it should clean out the cat.converter and muffler too? I do have questions. And why do I need the stuff removed if everything is stuck to something. and all is well. I did not look at price. Is this stuff pricey? Would it not be wiser to buy a better grade of gas such as Shell V-power insted of Citgo econo grade. The biggest question I have is, "How do I know I need it?"

Obviously, you didn't read the " fine print " on the back when you were giving it the " STINK EYE " at Napa. It says , and I quote... " not for use by retired rocket scientists, tile guys , or polaris riders "..... I don't know if Sea Foam creates the anxiety to go 100+ posts like the beloved.... Citgo Sea & Snow........................................................................

I bought a sled a few years ago with a stuck engine. I was planning to tear it down and re-ring/rebuild as needed. I took the plugs out and poured some seafoam down each hole--with no expectations, just to try it, a few days later the motor freed on its own, had good compression, I cleaned the carbs and got it running. Ran great, no noise--put about 3000 miles on sled, good compression, still runs good. That made me a beliver, I use it in the spring for storage rather than stabil, on rare occaisions put a bottle in the car/truck (fuel) but never in oil. I use amsoil at 20,000 mile intervals and stays clean, car just turned 220k miles last week.

Fact - The gas we buy now simply does not have the shelf life it used to. Sea Foam is best used in seasonal vehicles like mowers, weedeaters, snowblowers and SNOWMOBILES. The gas that gets left in these seasonal vehicles at the end of their respective seasons will very likely break down over the offseason. Many of us have seen the green uglies in carbs on sleds when we take them apart in the fall to clean them. This is basically broken down rotten fuel. Non-oxygenated fuel does not to break down as fast as ethanol-tainted fuels.(Here we go again.) If you have had good luck in the past by not using Sea Foam or StaBil or something else that is just what you have had - Luck. Or else you are storing your vehicles completely dry. That works too. Sea Foam will break down the corrosion and slime that likes to plug tiny orifices and allow the fuel to pass through said tiny orifices. It is not snake oil. It works. I know several small engine mechanics that swear by it. They more than most folks have seen the effects of the garbage gas we have nowadays.

I am going to try it in my Garden tractor. It just isn't running right. I will report back on it.

I have an old Wheel Horse GT1800 with a opposing twin Briggs 18 hp with a 42" snowblower I use to clear the drive at my place in Irons. Anyways it seems to be coughing a bit when at idle. I figure I can let it gargle on some of this stuff to get the flem out. Other wise I suspect a bad exhaust valve guide is causing it to sputter. Sea Foam comes in a pretty big bottle at NAPA, I guess I can donate it to my kids vehicle maintenance programs also.

Well..... get on with it will ya.....
I thought about paying the local hooligans to take a ride up to Irons, find all your toys and while you were sleeping, add a little SF into them all. BUT since your willing to give it a try .... Please proceed ! Better yet either tie that exhaust valve up or wire it out of the way, then dump that SF in everywhere, get it running , let it spit the years of poor maintenance out thru the pipe, and run it. It will be like having open headers or can on ! Then you can wait for the "big one" ( snow storm ), clear your driveway with the wheelhorse, push that new Ariens out in front with a " FOR SALE " sign and sell it for a profit.

At this time could you share with me the " AMSOIL " product that everyone is refering to that they add every 15,000 miles ? AND 1 more question .... " HOW WILL I KNOW IF I NEED IT" ?
