What you do mean by getting the bike out? I never stopped riding it, except during snow storms. Its pretty funny seeing someone riding there motorcylce in Janurary with a snowmobile suit on. I figure, change the oil for the lower temps and I have the sled suit, its good enough for snowmobiling, why not for riding the bike.

Indy, its a little more expensive to stud motorcycle tires than bicycle tires. We had snow, almost a record year, thats what makes it more interesting for people staring at me. Theres 4 foot snow banks and some crazy fool riding his bike. Black ice is a worry, but around here, they lay at least 10 pounds of salt for every square foot of pavement. I have to wash it alot in the winter.

Its been rainy here the last couple days, so alot of the salt should be gone. Supposed to be warm this weekend, and I just got the bike put back together, so , yeah, I'll be out

I had my street glide out earlier this week to stretch her legs a bit before going to work. The first ride of the year is always the best one.

Me with my pride and joy at the Badlands Natl. Park in South Dakota. I love being on the snowmobile, but logging miles and bending curves on two wheels is my first love.

I will not get mine out until a few good rains wash all the salt and sand off the roads.

160 miles so far this year. Sand was a problem last weekend, but we've received some rain this week that hopefully washes the salt away. I'm very meticulous with my bike-wash it after every ride even in the summer. This time of year, actually have to spend some extra time after riding, but well worth it. As long as the sled season ended so quick, good to see no down time to bike season.

How much do you guys spend on maintenance for a bike during the riding season?

Right now...a bike is the #2 (#1 is a truck) on the to get list and it better happen before #2 kid is on the way or I will be pissed as it was suppose to be bought before #1, but she caught us off guard. Hopefully all will pan out this year.

average cost....I thinking like oil change, tires, lube, plugs, chain/sprocket..etc...no gas.

Oh ya and how much wrenching do you do on your bike in an average summer?

unsually an oil change to start the season then about mid way through. Tires about 8-10K so that might mean yearly...

IMO biking is a cheap hobby besides the original purchase price. Ride ALL day and get 40-45 mpg. We arent going to start the oil topic on motorcycles are we?

Minimal wrenching. My V-Star is good to me. The only thing I miss is when I jump on my dads road king or Ultra with Rhineharts and big bore kit and have people in the group cover their ears
