Anyone live near a windfarm?

Curious if anyone with fist hand experience can tell me if living close to windmills is really the nightmare that a lot of people seem to make it out to be? I'm reading about things like teeth and jaw problems, headaches, stomach issues, lack of sleep, animals going crazy, etc. Supposedly the problems are more caused by the low frequency noise and strobe effects messing with your mind and such?

Had a wind farm go in here several years ago and I have all those things. But I'm guessing its getting older, not the wind turbines. Seriously, no problems at all. They quickly become part of the landscape and I don't notice them. I wish they would have come a little closer and put some on my land.

Sleep with a fan on, it will cure all your problems, ask the people that live next to the nuke plant.

Lived in dekalb county when the whole idea started .. Green energy ... Not .. The roads cut off farmers straight lines.. more fuel needed ..Beautiful sunsets messed up with 245 blinking red lights ( if there working ) Medivac pilots just love that .. Land deals broke families apart .. broke friendships ... Now do the math subsities ,land cost , to energy produced ... It was one of the final straws that drove me to the UP .. To move next to one .. You would have to be a very nice house given to me & free taxs ... Sorry for the rant

Agreed, seen it happen in my wife's family. Her brother wanted to add a wind generator or two on his farm, neighbors complained. Eventually rift got so bad nobody talks anymore, years of friendships down the drain.

Nuke plant isn't bad so I can't think windfarm would be a big deal!! atleast you don't haveta worry about radiation....

But Nytro we use to have both in Lee IL. Byron got pretty rich when that nuke plant went in.. And most of the Free money perks are all gone now ..

Here in the northern Thumb of MI. I have almost a 360 view of windmills. Closest one right now is a mile away. Can't hear them, but more will be going up and will be closer to my house.
Yes, sunrise and sunsets now have a windmill in them. I am 50/50 on them.

My family has our own personal 120' tall windmill 75 yards from our house, and our club runs a snowmobile trail right through a wind farm. No one I know have ever experienced any of the symptoms in the original post.

That night picture is cool.
Do they lower your electric bill? I think if you lived near one you shouldnt have to pay for electric, like when this mine was running residents in white pine did not pay for some utilities the mine did. Thats why all these houses had two electric meters.

No they don't lower your bills ... Byron nuke plant 30 mi away .. windmills all around us .. still .20 /kw ... as far as your second meter that is just for your hot water .. rebates were given back in the day .. if you still have the 2nd meter check your bill for service charge on 2nd meter

I was kinda for wind power but if it does not effect local then why would you. Except landowners where tower is located to which i can see where it would start arguments between family and friends.
Nytro told me the nuke plant affected the local school and other things in Byron but now at the end of its life. Like the casinos around wi,mn,mi alot of them help the local schools, road construction and other things. Oh my second meter was off before i bought house.

Keep it local, stop being so greedy!

Yes Byron got a lot from the plant and still gets quite a bit but it gets less everytime they re-assess it. There will be a day when Byron will be in trouble because the Nuke Plant will close, just not sure when yet..

Oh yea we get no power from the plant either.

Why did Lee Il. not get any tax benefits from the Nuke Plant or the Wind Farm?

Byron was too far away & Lee fought against the windmills So they said screw you but the state got in the mess and they received some tax moneys ..
