Artic Cat Recall

Are they talking front lower A-arms?

I read in one article that they have only had 13 reports out of the 16,500 sleds that are potentially at risk. That's not a very high percentage but they must see it as a potential problem for all to do a recall like this.

Wonder if they had a bad batch of materials or more of a design issue?

Just called the dealer and mine is involved. Said they had to order the parts, so it doesn't even sound like they were prepared for this. :(

Was reading on another site and sounds like they are not replacing the arms all together. They are adding a bracket to stregthen the arm's from the sounds of it.

It is not the dogbone supports that use to be on the sleds prior to 2009. Those were designed to help strenthen the bulkhead where the arms bolt to the bulkhead. These new brackets are designed to strengthen the actual arms I guess.

Gonna call the dealer in a few minutes and see what they say. I haven't gotten anything in the mail but from everything I've read my sled should be in the recall (2010 X-fire LE)

Does this cover when your sled suddenly has the urge to become a tree hugger and the a-arm is "dinged" in the process?

Wow that is going to be a lot of a-arms to replace. I highly doubt that Cat has those in inventory in that quantity. My guess is that it is going to be awhile.

Yes, but be sure you sand away all the hack saw blade marks. Of course the odds of this happening to both sides of the sled similtaneously is pretty darn remote....but it could happen!

Honesty is the best policy..

I ain't bashing here fellas but does anyone know if the frt. end arms are manufactured in the States or Asia???? I don't ride this brand but I commend AC to admit they have a problem. That is an HONEST company!!

I don't know what the fix will be, but I read in one report that it's simple enough they can add the fix with the sled right on the trailer.

our group was talking about this over the weekend.

Who pays for the fix? The manufacture that made the a arms (assumption is cat did not actually make them), Arctic Cat, insurance company of one of the two.

My question does not just apply to this one situation, but to any recalls.

From my own personal experience of dealing with vendors I would say that the vendor will end up paying for this. I am sure that Cat has some kind of agreement with their vendors. If that doesn't happen it will have to come out of Cat's pocket. I have never heard of an insurance that covers this type of a situation.

Saw a diagram on a sled site of the fix being installed on a F series sled.

It appears to be a brace that mounts on to the A-Arm sort of around the welds. I assume the idea is to add a bit of additional strength to the weld area by decreasing the amount of flex that can occur.
