I'm assuming however that trails are not open so its fire road riding only?

We've received 3-4 inches of LES since Sunday. It's snowing now, suppose to receive 1-3 today. Temps are holding steady till this weekend then a slight warm-up during the day.

OK! We are 1 out of 3 as we got about 3" overnight and maybe 1-3' more yet today. Now we need the Tuesday snow and the LES Thursday.

We are now 2 out of 3 with the NWS predictions. What the heck is going on here??? LES on Thursday is yet to come but not that important unless there is a big dump.
We have 3" of wet heavy snow thus far and NWS is saying 2-4" more tonight. Will make for some good FR riding. Trails are still closed in the County but I hope they will reopen in the Valhalla/Bayfield area where there is a base.
Will likely ride tomorrow and do a report.

Randy (groomer out of the Pub & grub) did post this morning that he will see if they are going to open the trails- Unless you trailer to the Fireroads it's hard to get to them from any towns or areas other than the Pub & Grub by sled. I think that you have to trailer even if trails are open from Woodside cottages but I might be wrong. Fireroads should be good - I would call Doug @ the Pub & Grub to see if he has any opens if you want to ride Fireroads. Its' going to be warm over the weekend so it might be your last chance to get out and make some memories!

[/QUOTE] You are correct, we do trailer from Woodside Cottages, but we also have 40 plus years of knowledge of the area between Woodside and brother Richard if you would like to come spend a day or two riding with us. Last week we rode forest roads all day Saturday and getting down to the P&G cost everyone new carbides. Not sure what you mean that it's hard to get to forest roads from any towns or areas other than the P&G by sled?? The trail system from Iron River, Washburn, Corni, and Bayfield are all connected to the forest roads. Ok, enough typing my hand is tired from squeezing the throttle all day. :)

FR's were very good today. Very good base and 6-7" of fresh snow on top. More riding tomorrow. FR's will be good through the weekend in spite of more warm weather coming.

FR's are easy to access from the Valhalla area, Cornie, Ino, Moquah, Iron River and a few miles west of Bayfield.

We finally got to areas today on the FR's that we have not been able to access all Winter. Trails are fair to good but no more grooming at this time.

Crazy Winter.

Anybody riding yet on the Bayfield peninsula? Was just looking to maybe shoot up for the day and drop somewhere out there and ride...Corney, Port, Vahalla...Im sure you can't get in or out of town but maybe trails have some snow on them that's ridable. We did this last year about the same time and it was real nice..

Forget it as conditions are not rideable.

Forest Roads in the Chequemgon National Forest are closed to ALLmotorized vehicles. Horses too. That is all FR south of North Boundary which is just NW of Valhalla and the PubNGrub. All trails and FR's closed for Bayfield County as well. The only exception is the Tri-County Corridor TR2 which is open for ATV use only.

Woodside, couple of questions. Did you get any snow on Sunday/Monday? Thought the forest roads were always legal to ride with four inches or more. Did you lose the base that was there? I appreciate your honest reports and insights. Thanks!

We got 4-5" LES here in Bayfield but about 3" in the Valhalla area. The snow band was very narrow. The base is there but its not consistent as there are bare spots and solid ice where the sun hits. The forest service has shut everything down so it doesn't matter.
