Sir..... please.........step away from the pipe.

Lol. Ahh man that was funny. Company paying cashier double time, good one.

Menards and Fleet Farm give you straight time on black friday. A whopping $7.25/hr!!! My friend who is 17 years old was scheduled an 11 hour shift yesterday at Menards...

Back when I was 17 I made 3.35 an hour. I worked opening morning of deer season, 4 am to 12 pm, then from 3 to close, usually 10 pm. Besides, black Friday is not a holiday, just another work day, especially if you are a teenager. :)

Team elkhorn has some common sense. Think about it people. You are buying low quality junk and they are making you think you getting a great deal. TVs are the worst offenders.

I was down in Alabama, had to get a couple things for my parents, ( they moved there in March ) happened to notice a 18v cordless drill / saw combo I think, Dewalt... started talking to the reps and he said the same thing about the cheap stuff on sale, they are not made of the same quality. Since I only needed a small in size and super light weight drill I bought one of the expensive models for my parents. Even the tools are getting that way. My good drill cost more than the big black friday sale combo.

Just as a side note:
I was NOT Black Friday shopping,

You can't go wrong with the Makita 18volt lithium-ion drill/impact driver set that Home Depot always has for $199. We have two sets at work and they are great.

I'm a little older then 51 and can remember not even many of the gas stations were even open on Sundays and holidays.
I'm 50 and I remember filling the car with gas the day before holidays, or else. I also remember, not that long ago, when Wally World bragged that they wouldn't open on holidays so their employees could spend the day with their families.

Which reminds me. I need to get a new battery for mine. I need it to drill holes out on the lake ice to check the thickness.:D

my wife and I tagged along with my brother, purely for entertainment reasons at walmart. people running thru the parking lot to get to the store. you could just see the lines of poeple coming to the store. reminded us of zombie movies with all the zombies congregating! i told me wife "wouldnt it be nice to see this many people behaving like this on sunday mornings on the their trek to church? or to the salvation army to dontate some food?" nope. today's society is all about gratifying oneself with items that will only satisfy them momentarily and then they will have to go out and get more junk. and they charge it all on their credit card to boot! very, very, very sad IMO.

And THAT my friends is the ONLY TIME of the year (seconds) you will see a Walmartian RUN!

Last time I was at one, my wife had to run in for something this summer and I can honestly say that there was not a single adult under about two-fifty that came out of or went into the store in that span! Boy, I HOPE MY WIFE DOESN'T READ THIS!?

Interesting post...I think attempted gratification from buying junk has replaced church for many...
