Cat telescoping handlebars

Just wondering if is possible to put these on a crossfire7. I imagine different cables and brake line may be needed. I love the adjustability of these things. I run a 2 inch riser right now, but that is not enough. The 2 inch is somewhat awkward for trail riding also.
Also does anyone know how much this setup might cost?

I had 5639-153 on order and it's been backordered for quite a while. On a tip from someone I ordered the individual parts (0705-988, 1623-753 (qty 4), 1705-284, and 0605-867) online from babbits (www.arcticcatpartshouse.com/) and supposedly they will be here end of next week. Price was around $175-180 with shipping.

Does anyone know whats in the kit? Isn't it just swapping out the post and finding some length in your cables?

on your x fire 7 you will prob need new bars unless you would need a 8 in riser with a 07 or newer bars

The kit is just those part numbers I listed above (not sure about the 0605-867 one and even how much you need that one?). 0705-988 is essentially what you need and the 1623-753 and 1705-284 are the screws and top for the mount. The "kit" just has all those bundled together.

Just go to the site I listed and search for parts for an '09 Sno Pro and look at the microfiche drawing and compare it to the non-sno pro. Should make perfect sense then. For '08 or '09 non-sno pro you just need to change out the shaft assembly. Like ezra said, I think for '07 and older you will need new bars too.

Thats right, 07's and newer have a completely different bar. The 06 CF has a bar similar to mid 2000's mountain cats. I forgot that. This job might take a few more parts.

I think it sounds like the cat kit and a fall trip to some swaps.that is my plan.unless this power ball thing works out

Just an update for anyone wanting these parts. I did get the parts yesterday when I ordered them individually as in my post up above. The "kit" is backordered so if you want to actually get them order them seperate. Price was just shy of $180 shipped from Babbits.

I checked kon this as well for my x-fire. I suspected the handle bars would need to be changed though & confirmed that. I spoke with the dealer I bought it from & as it turns out the 09 sno-pro kit is available, as was the cap assembly each seperately. I had him order them up as well as a new set of bars, they should be here in a couple of day's. I am hoping to get to use them once before we have to call it for the season.-mezz

ezra, I believe the bars are an additional Fifty bucks, I can reuse the hand warmers & the grips which can be warmed to remove & glued back on. As far as the total damage, I don't know exactly yet, but, no matter what, I know it will be worth it. On top of that, the shop I am working with treats me real good. I will let you know when it's complete.-Mezz

Mezz,
Did you have to get new throttle cable and brake line or just extenstions for both? Or will the stock ones work?

2009 M-Series (and maybe Crossfires) have longer cables than the 2007-2008 M-Series. I put a 5 inch riser on my 2008 M8 and that is the MAX. I was told the new telescoping riser maxes out at 6 inches. You'll need to do a longer throttle cable and maybe a brake line.

I looked at that closely before moving forward on this project & I did not feel it would be needed due to the difference in the new M handle bars & the earlier versions like those on the Crossfire. I had the boy's at the shop check out the specifics on it & they agree, with the new style M bars, the stock cable, brake line & wiring will not be a problem. Parts came in today, sled is getting an update as we speak. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate for another week or two so I can use them. I will keep you posted.-Mezz

Update, the install has gone well with one minor modification needed. After installing the steering post & putting the steering connecting rod back in place, we discovered the steering rod would hit the bottom of the exhaust pipe when turning the ski's hard left. We contemplated a couple of different idea's, but did find a simple remedy to it, that being adding a 5/8" thick rubber to the top of the seat where the exhaust pipe rests on the left side. This gave ample clearance to the steering rod & still left enough room between the hood & exhaust. Will get it back tomorrow, can't wait! I'm like a kid waiting for Santa!-Mezz

No cable extension on a 2006 Crossfire? How much of a rise would you say you get in the highest position? Compared to stock?

No cable extension needed, I cannot say exactly yet on the amount of the rise as I did not measure the difference. I will say that compared to stock it is a significant change. I had a 1" riser block on the stock bars & post which still didn't quite get it for me in the standing position as I am a little on the tall side. The new post & bars allow me to stand fully with no bending needed at the waist. With that in mind I would guess another 3" over what I had. I will be picking the sled up this afternoon & try to get some measurements for you, possibly some pic's if I have the time.-Mezz
