Where in Wisconsin did all the snow land? Don't care about Minnesota.

Eau Claire area got about 11inches. Just south of Eau Claire in Buffalo and Trempeleau counties they got 12 inches. Buffalo County and the northern part of Trempeleau county are open.

6 PM Sat. Sorry I was away & didn't have time to copy & paste this earlier.

As of 8 AM today, I had 6 to 6 1/2″ of new snow on my desk. 11″ in the front yard. Light waves of LES are still happening.

Virtually all trails/base were gone by last weekend. Vilas trails are technically open and I’ll give conditions an EARLY SEASON rating after the “non event” storm. Lakes were basically just ice with some water on top by Tuesday, now they have snow/slush. As I type, I am not sure if lakes are still marked or not. Do not travel lakes if not marked. Top soil was soft but has firmed up – at least to foot traffic. I did see some tracks east of town by Muskrat Creek and on trail 17 by Indian Rd (SW of Phelps).

I’m sure anyone reading this post is a fan of winter sports & snowmobiling in particular. I understand that weather forecasting is not an exact science but all the TV news has been talking about is how the world nearly ended. Also, in case you weren’t aware, road speed limits are for dry conditions, you should slow down on snow. Seems your tires don’t have as much traction.

Groomers have not been out yet, not sure when they roll.

6 PM update: No additional LES accumulation. Trails are being ridden & from the road don't look too bad (At least they are snow covered all the way to the pavement). An inch or so more snow in Land O. More yet towards Marinesco.

Roof leak, desk is upstairs. Buffed rt side of Evinrude last Sunday.

Took a quick ride to Burnt Bridge last night. Bumpy but well packed now. Fortunately west side has very few wet spots, so no problems with that. Just started snowing nicely in the last few minutes. Don't know if or when groomers will roll yet. If tonight, I will know 1st hand. I heard that Buckatabon has been UN-MARKED. For safety's sake, I will stay off all lakes, I'm not a strong swimmer!

If NWS service comes thru next week on forcast you might be riding for a couple weeks. Yes lakes would scare me as temps last week near 50 would melt soft spots. STAY OFF UNMARKED LAKES
Sounds like the bottom of your Evinrude is done with you buffing on it so the best/next would be to water test and run the little mother. ? Was it last year that a 24" of snow fell in march and most everyone was stuck!

North Twin is a race track fast and smooth lots of snow no slush.. Phelps and Conover trails are another matter as of late Saturday afternoon also lots of snow some wet spots no groom and moguled. If groomers go out could be terrific if they don't we will need a foot to fill in bumps. Jim where does Conover take over grooming taking the Twin Haven Trail to Conover?? The Twin Haven trail was pretty good thru the woods then riding straight from TH the trail widened and was very bumpy so I U turned and rode back to the lake to air it out.

whats your definition of moguled? hard to imagine huge bumps forming from 8 inches of snow

Call them little bumps, big bumps, studders or 1 foot moguls Phelps 17 and 6 very ruff right now with no grooming and lots of traffic and have not seen a groomer in a very long time. Something needs to happen to improve trail smoothness or riding will stop. Ditch banging is better than this. If Conover grooms trails I'm there they do well with what mother nature gives them. I would suspect Phelps is not grooming because they have some trail wet spots which I rode thru and Clubs make choices fearing they will stick a groomer. Whatever you want to call the bumps it is very ruff out there now. Frs are ok and so is North Twin lake but trails are bombed out without grooming.

Maybe they gave up with the WI trails closing in two more days?

Yes me & buds have simular thoughts and closing will be self fulfilling if Vilas clubs don't groom all the county together. I guess if your club is grooming you could be happy in the home area but I'm very limited right now no grooming ER, 3lakes/Brule, Phelps, Lando and Conover a maybe. If Conover grooms I maybe able to bridge a ride to Sayner trails as they are grooming.

What are you hearing for the forcast this upcoming week

WD, I must say i been reading for many years about your sled and grooming issues. I respect you very much so dont take this the wrong way, but enough is enough with this Yamaha thing. Go buy a skidoo renegade and stop complaining. Many people tell you this and you just keep on and on and on. You will no longer be looking for a groomer. Grow some, come out of the closet and stop complaining. Hopefully you not get upset with me.

Gee, I hadn't thought of that! Maybe it's the MACHINE, and not the trails?? Nah - can't be, it's the best sled money can buy.

WD rides alone a lot. He probably prefers the Yamaha reliability over wondering when a Doo will blow up on him.

Hey I can be done with trail reports ok with me. I leave these trails to you and all of you with your awesome snow machines that can bang thru any snow conditions. Hey who needs groomers anyway get out there and ride those awesome machines. I tried and was not fun and I don't expect to see grooming again this season. If that is what you want now is your time. Just for the record I bang 30 miles RT every ride on unplowed Frs and ride thru stuff that would make your hair stand up.

When the trails aren't groomed daily I hear owners of ALL brands whining, so cut the crap ...in fact the Doo guys are the biggest crybaby wimps proved by the fact they need the cushy r motion to begin with....LOL....in fact we just heard from a group new Doo owners complaining about the grade we had just run with an Apex and Poo Axys. There 4 Doos and ours was the only sleds at the bar!
