Amazon has them for under a 100 bucks right now!

Do you or anybody here own one? Have thought about a GoPro for a while but the cost and "do I really need another tech gadget" has held me back. If I could get something that works OK and is not $400, might give it a try!

I run the Contour and love it's simplicity. While it may be just a step below the Go Pro in video quality it really does an amazing job. I had a Go Pro and Vio POV cam and did not get much footage as I found it a hassle to always verify that it was turned on. The Countour is so simple that I come back with tons of clips after a day of riding! Pretty much the same feeling in my group!!!

I haven't seen many Contours but have read that they're easy to operate verses the Go Pro. I've recently seen the basic Go Pro on sale at Best Buy for around $199, the $400 units have all the bells and whistles if that's what you want but from my experience, the more basic, the better whether it be Contour or Go Pro. You don't want to be fumbling with technology when you could be riding, just my opinion and from experience.

Not looking for bells & whistles. Maybe I didn't look close enough. Simple to use, decent battery life and decent video quality is what I'm looking for.

With the Contour it is only on and using battery when you are recording. You have a slide on top of the Camera to turn on and record. Slide on Slide off, it's that simple! I have never ran out of battery, however my video clips are around a minute or so each. Makes them easy to edit that way.

Love my contour. Had it for 3 years now, like cooksend said, very easy to use, great battery life, and you dont have a tv set, go pro, on your helmet.

Contours kick arse! I have the plus 2 model. I can't stand watching videos from a go pro, the view and angle of the video always sucks. On 720 my camera has a 170 degree view. The battery life is phenomenal, lasts all day long every day. My buddies with gopros can't get them to last past the first hour!

Do you have links to video's that you have taken with your Contour? TIA!

There's a bunch of them on here. Cooksend has at least a couple in the Western Riding section and I think I have one there. For a quick reference, there's a Copper Harbor vintage run video in the vintage section that was shot with a pair of Contours. Definitely need to play at 720 though.

Pretty much agree with what has been said here. I often run two Contours (Roam and Roam 2) and have never had a battery or video capacity issue. The Go-Pro with the remote would be cool but more than I want to spend. I've actually had mine torn off by a branch. Would hate to lose a big bucks Go-Pro.

At under $100 I might have to pick up a spare Roam 2.

Do you have to buy any mounts in order to use it?

I've just been using the stick-on mounts that come with the camera. If you want to get the helmet out of the shot, you might have to get a little more creative with the mounts.

Do you just mount yours on the top of your helmet or do you mount to the sled? just getting ideas to get good video. I just ordered one!

I got one a yrs back and it came with 2 mounts that more or less stick to your helmet . the mount for my contour is still on the helmet even though I don't know where the camera is kind of quit using after I got liquid image. did like the contour ez to know if it was on or off and u dont look like such a tool with them not having to stick 8 inches off the top of your head .
I got a drone for x mass that will fit in my tunnel pack I cant wait to try out for some of those hold my beer moments

The one I use for rear facing shots is just stuck on the top of my ancient modular helmet. You can rotate the lens on the camera so it can be mounted sideways. I had to build a mounting base on that helmet to get the helmet out of the shot for forward recording. On the helmet with a visor, I just mount it on the visor sideways - works pretty well but need to make sure the visor angle isn't too low or you'll just be shooting the skis.

Idid like the contour ez to know if it was on or off and u dont look like such a tool with them not having to stick 8 inches off the top of your head

You don't like the Go-Pro mohawk?

I want to mount mine on the front bumper but wouldn't I need a extension pole to raise it up?

Ram makes a few options for doing this. I have a short one on mine but would love to get like an 18" adapter to get it up out of the freshies a bit.

I have had all the go pros and now have the 4 black and love it, mine have always lasted all day, and some of my videos are 5 minutes long, I wouldn't use anything else.
