crossfire 1000?

how are the crossfire 1000 in the trails looking to buy a couple of them. i know its early but when u work around boats all day 6-7 days a week this is all i can think about.

the xfire is a great trail sled I would deff buy a xfire 1000 .I have a 7 and love it have ridden a 8 and spent prob 100 mi on a mod 1000xfire.the pipe is a must do for the 1000.I have been seriously contemplating picking up a M1000 153

i meant to say the crossfire R 1000 are they good trail an off trail riding sleds. i perefer the trail riding.

This is an interesting thread for me, too, as I am considering a xfire1000. Question about the M153, though. Dealer tells me it is clutched wrong for the midwest and the track is wrong 'cause the padddles are too big.

Can an M153 be used as a trail sled in MI, or is it only for mountains and boondocking? Reason I am asking is that there are a lot more holdover M153s than xfires.

I have a few buds with the xfire r 1000 most use for lake racing.if you plan on no off trail I think the F is a better choice more rigid better not better flatter handling in the corners but for me I would go with the xfire .as for a 153 for just a trail sled I would say no I plan on keeping my 136 xfire for around my house and cabin and the 153 for da UP and out west.I have a bud who has a 153 m8 and he uses it around the house in MN a few times a yr for trail riding but she burns hyfax and the temp light is on allot but for the 100 or less MI of MN trail a yr it works halfass

I wouldn't buy a 153 and "plan" to use it as a trail sled. Point A to Point B isn't so bad but you'll go through hifax and run hot.

maybe you could get by with the 153 for trail riding if you added another heat exchanger and load the rails up with idler wheels

If there isn't loose snow on the trail ice scratchers help a little but I would still duck off and hit some fresh snow on the side of the trail when you can.

If it is VERY cold (below 0) they almost hurt you because they kick up the snow/slush/ice onto the heat exchanger and it freezes forming a shield and preventing any snow/ice from getting to it to cool the sled. You need to stop and gently kick it off of the exchanger ALWAYS watching your temp light.

As long as you hits some fresh snow on the side of the trail along with ice scratchers, a person shouldn't have any issues.
I have ice scratchers on my IQR 144 and have had no issues but I do look for loose snow and duct in a lot - when trail riding it.

The heat exchanger on a M-Series is probably a lot smaller than your sled. I'd say my M8 heat exchanger is 8-10 inches long and the width of the tunnel.

The Crossfire line has bigger heat exchanger.

I don't know about Polaris.

wow you guys have alot problems with your m on the trail eh.......coming off the firecat chassis to the m was a great transformation for me......the sled rides alot like my fcats did on the trails I have no issue keeping up with my short track friends......I don't use the trails alot but i do go with my trail friends a few times a winter with zero issues of heat or the slides....still on first set at 1500 miles.....I don't run scratches but I have done a few things to the hood and vents(I'm guessing this has helped keep under hood temp down) all the insulation gone...run 2cool vents on the side with the gage change at the speedo\tac I found it moves the air real well.... I also run the Snopro which has the fox shocks on it and when I need too i can add psi for trail use.....I am adding a koso temp gauge this summer so i can see where the temp is at in real time as I hear alot peeps with heat issues....I jump off the trail and load the track alot....I have two good friends who ride RMK we got our sleds same time and we ride together all winter...they run scratches religiously and one is on his 3rd slides and other has put two sets in...might be the load the track thing thats the ticket???
