Makita 18 Lithium Ion. Lighter, better balanced and the bats last longer than DeWalt. Never use my DeWalt after I got the Makita.

Once a yr., our Makita factory repairman comes down and repairs anything that we can put on his work desk. Our dealer makes it like a "thank the customer days" celabration. If the drill needs brushes, outer bearings, etc., it is repaired on the spot while we enjoy free coffee and food. I guess this is why I buy Makita equipment. They can take BEATING all day!

Lot of Makita fans and a few hitachi fans to. Never thought or looked at the hitachi will have to now. I do have a makita cordless right angle drill that does not get tons of use but a fair share and never had a problem. I am now considering makita.

I got a Makita 18v Li-on kit with a drill, impact, circ saw, recip saw, 4" grinder and a light to replace my 5 yr old Dewalt gear. While I am not in the trades I am a very enthusiastic do it yourselfer. I have been very happy with the weight, power, ergonomics and battery life of the Makita. My only complaint is the hammer power of the drill leaves something to be desired, my Dewalt was a bit better in this respect but in all honesty if you are really drilling into concrete you should probably be using a corded drill...

I have had a Bosch combo for the past year and love it. Built a set of stairs over the weekend up to my deck, one battery on the impact lasted the whole project driving 3.5" screws.

I'm in the market for a new drill/impact combo. I'm can't decide which one to get. I use and abuse my drill or impact just about every day for work "hvac". I have had many dewalt cordless tools for the past 15-20 years and for the most part been happy with them except the past 5-6 years it seems to me the dewalt tools have gotten cheaper in quality. I have alot of milwaukee tools and had no problems with them, But never had any cordless tools by milwaukee. I know nothing last forever but would like to get more then a couple years out of a drill. I will not buy another ridgid cordless tool ever as the one and only one I owned was garbage.
I know there is alot of trades people out here and would love to hear what you have had best of luck with. I am kinda stuck between the dewalt or milwaukee, but will consider others. Thanks
Doing HVAC I would consider a drill with a light that shines when drill runs. Not sure of what brands have this, but it would be handy in tight spots you guys have to get to.

Seems the big box stores get sum price point dewalt stuff... The Dewalt hammer drill I picked up from Grainger seems to have metal nose cone and decent keyless chuck... So I guess thats why it was a bit more...(pun intended)

The Makita has an LED light that comes on with a pull if the trigger and stays on for several seconds after the trigger is released. Nice feature when working in tight areas.

My tool salesman says we abuse cordless tools more than anyone he's ever dealt with. Our crews are putting up close to 100 pole buildings a year and by far we prefer the Makita or Milwakee equipment. Makita tools are lighter than the Milwakee, but seem to hold up close to what the Milwakee does, but I would give the slight edge to the Milwakee. I actually keep Dewalt cordless at the shop so the crew doesn't "borrow" any of them for the jobsite. We drive millions of screws per year with these things in all weather. Dewalt did just come out with a whole new drill I believe. I think it's 20 volt, but we haven't tried any yet. Just my 2 cents.
