Ok, I talked to dealer and it is a go for next Tuesday at his dealer as originally planned. Any body know where I can find a sea doo back rest?
I can order it online but would rather buy one in person next week if possible..

ps--when a dealer quotes you a price..does it include... dealers feight charge and set up? some dealers said $8800 for the ACE, others said 8300, but didnt mention freight charge which is $500

Any dealer that pulls freight charge, and set up after the fact should be dismissed. I have had dealers walk in back & say ok there it is in the box & my lowest price is X$.......Oh you want it unpacked, set up, then freight, set up & documentation & you got to luv the doc charges are X$. Once you know their game you bring it up from the get go & tell them I walk if you start working me for freight , set up & documentation charges. I did this on my new boat & the dealer ate some $35 up charge for some dumb docs after the out the door price was established. If you allow it....... it will happen.

Prior to giving the dealer the $500 downpayment, you DID have a sales contract showing every detail??

Nothing worse than a “snake” dealer! As ‘whitedust” commented, immediately dismiss any dealer who quotes you a price that did not include freight and dealer prep. in the original quote. As far as the dock fee, my answer to that is not presentable in this format…

As far as the mpg estimate, I bet it is close...

Did it all over the phone. I have the final dollar amounts and am comfortable with where we are at. It is the best deal I got after talking with about 6 skidoo dealers. Nobody else would give me a trade in of $2800.....not even close...

If i am a dealer there is now way I give a guy a trade in quote without seeing the machine, but it sounds like they want to sell sleds.....

cool video of the skidoo touring ACE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkrbgjk2tfI

looks like more leg room

i wonder if that backseat can be moved forward afterall??

That's all that really matters, now if the dealer would have come along after the fact of giving you that final price and said they needed to charge for freight & prep, that would have been very low of a dealer.

For anyone dealing over the phone on a vehicle purchase, I'd advise to have the dealer e-mail you the exact figures prior to committing to it if you are unable to go there in person for whatever reason.

Curious to hear how you like that 600 ACE once you've had a chance to get some miles on it.

I agree, being comfortable in your own mind is all that is important...best of luck with the new sled...congrats!

Got the ACe today!

It is A W E S O M e

very comfortable and very quiet engine sound...you can barely hear it

seat is very very very comfy!!!!!!!!!! and more leg room than the 05 tourings

ski doo got it right (so far) !!!!!!

put 30miles on today and full tank did not move on the 9 bars that show the gas tank..so we will see if it does 250-300 miles soon

question

the dealer charged me michigan sales tax on the 8500 purchase price and not the 8500-2800 trade in amount

I questioned him on this and he said it is "state law in michigan"
\
Is he full of crap? I will take it back to him if he is wrong and ask for the money he owes me,,anybody know the true answer on what is the taxable amount on a trade in???

ps-I found the answer on the sales tax and the dealer is correct..in michigan, one is taxed on the full purschase price...
!!

man, i thought it was the same as wisconsin...thus, it pays for people in michigan to come to wisconsin for trade ins in some regards!!

If you are Registering it in Wisconsin you should pay tax in Wisconsin and get the lower Tax amount after the trade. I have bought Sleds from dealers in Michigan and have always paid the Sales Tax in Wisconsin.

i have registered the sled in wisconsin over the dnr web site

so should i contact the dealer and have them refund my sales tax?

then talk to the dnr is wisconsin about the sales tax that i will pay them

you think they will now? the transaction is complete..i will call them monday

Michigan does charge tax on the whole purchase price and not on the net. When you register it in whatever state you will file it on your taxes if you get money back.

Who do i contact about paying the sales tax in wisconsin?

I dont know which number of the dnr to contact. I will be talking to the dealer in michigan on tuesday about refunding my sales tax that i paid.

The other think i am thinking is to pay the sales tax in illinois, my residence state, so i can deduct the sales tax on my tax return (I itemize). Any thoughts? Then i have to register the sled in both illinois and wisconsin? I ride it only in wisconsin.

Found this # on the WI DNR site, may help you: 1-888-WDNR INFO

Here is the WI snowmobile registration form:
http://dnr.wi.gov/org/caer/cs/apps/F9400210.pdf

If you are a resident of IL, wouldn't you pay sales tax there, as well as register the sled in IL and just get a non-resident trail pass for WI (and MI) or do you strictly keep the sled in WI?

Here is info from the WI Snowmobile Laws handbook:

Nonresidents—As a nonresident, you may
operate your snowmobile in Wisconsin with your state’s current registration
as long as the decal or proof of registration is prominently displayed
and the snowmobile and the machine has not been in Wisconsin for
more than 15 consecutive days. The proof of registration from your
home state must be carried with you while riding and must be presented
to an enforcement officer when requested. However, you should be
aware that an out of state registered snowmobile that is in Wisconsin
for longer than 15 days must be registered in Wisconsin.

Trail Pass. In addition, an out of state registered snowmobile
must display a Wisconsin Nonresident Snowmobile Trail Pass
anytime it is ridden on the trails. Nonresident Snowmobile Trail
Passes can be purchased at any DNR office or license vendor,
or on-line at www.dnr.wi.gov. The Nonresident Snowmobile
Trail Pass is valid for one year and must be displayed directly
on the front of the snowmobile windshield. Once attached, it
cannot be transferred to any other snowmobile. Fee—$35.

It has a thin piece of metal running under the middle of the ski..but nothing like a carbide that sticks down..it steers fine for the most part
