To put them on all you will need is a deep well socket and a hammer to knock them off. Its about a 5 minute job.

As long as you do have wear bars in place, shouldn't be no problem to ride.

According to Doo's website parts look-up, your sled has the single carbide wear bar on the skis.

Here's the link to the page: Select year, then model & specific parts

http://epc.brp.com/Index.aspx?lang=E&s1=5f2ebf64-2c69-4cf6-b36c-5f3858c46772&brands=skidoo

Easy to change if you can elevate the skis off the ground enough to remove the wear bars.

Another tip, these skis are designed that in previous years they had an additional wear bar mounted at the outer edge, but the new sleds don't. You can drill out the holes and add them if you choose to-will aid in better steering and also less wear on the plastic ski.

i will prob ride it 100 more miles this weekend and then take it in to have carbides put on while i am away for a couple of weeks..as well as the heated seat warmer

i am very very happy with the sled so far..very comfy....and quiet

it is a bitch though to put in reverse as one must pull back a handle that is very hard to pull back......that is the only drawback of the sled imo

May want to ask the dealer about that-maybe it needs some adjustment or maybe some miles to "break in"?

I know Yamaha's mechanical reverse on the 4-strokes could be difficult to engage if not properly adjusted.

dealer saidin time it will break in, but mechanic friend downthe street said no it wont

got 140 miles on the sled, but only 2-3 gas bars remain...will be interesting to see if it even makes 200 miles on the first tank...but snow is thin that i have ridden on and i have been breaking it in by having a moving rate of speed all the time as instructed by the ski doo manuel

very comfy sled

You are going to burn those wearbars off quickly in thin conditons. Keep an eye on them. 4s stroke takes longer to break in than 2s. My Yam jumped way up in mpg after 2000 miles.

i have kept an eye on them, snow conditions have really improved here in last day or so

getting carbides next tuesday

how many miles per gallon and per tank do you get on the yamaha?

Just finished riding and the first tank got only 155 miles before running out of gas. 15mpg on the first tank

It will get better once you get some miles on it, that is unless you start riding it wide open, throttle to the handlebar style! :)

How's the track tension? Some dealers send the sleds out w/o checking for proper track tension-a tight track will definately decrease fuel mileage as well as decrease power & speed.

track tension is in the middle area..its all preset settings with shocks, etc

and maybe they did not fill it all the way up to the top when i bought it...meaning maybe some extra fuel space was there, since i did not fill it up myself

rides really good, very low fatigue at this point....the only thing i would change would be the reverse....

i like the j handlebars as i dont have throttlee fatigue like i had on my gtx

btw, pickup is pretty damn fast on it!!! very tight throttle....was surprised how fast this machine pickups when you tough the throttle...have not had it over 40mph yet

having oil change performed next tuesday along with carbides put on

i filled the sled up with about 5 gallons of gas, half full (5-6 bars), and got 90 miles on it with two "bars" remaining so the half tank would prob be 110-125 miles so mpg is improving

am done riding for a month and will get oil changed and carbides put on, but am very happy with the smooth ride of the sled and improving gas mileage

I know from experience, I Was reading empty on the gauge & sweating bullets, pulled into a station and filled up, I know my tank holds 11 gallons & I usually fill pretty far up to the bottom of the neck, when I checked the gallons filled, the pump registrated 8 gallons so
there had to be atleast 3 gallons left in the tank.

Also, you may already know this but on the XP "burp" the trapped air out of the fuel tank. After filling the tank to the bottom of fuel neck gently push on rear of sled until back of the fuel tank is roughly level with the front then go ahead and pump another 3/4 to one gallon in her and then check your millage.
