I am a casual rider and have ridden for about 10 years. Not a techy person whatsover (i'm a professor), so that is why i came to ask the experts these questions.

The sled technically does not require carbides due to the awears, but am putting em on as a precaution as i like to ride roads and lakes a lot....

I am back up north and changed the oil and put on carbides. Filled the tank to totally full and guage has 9 dots. RODE 40.6 MILES TODAY AND FUEL GUAGE DID NOT MOVE.

It had 9 dots when I started and 9 dots when I finished. 300 miles per tank may be possible after all...ski doo got it right

The heating pad installed under the seat was awesome today in the cold weather....just buy it for $60 and put it under any seat you have on your sled.

Rode 70 more miles today. Very smooooth seat on the grand touring. Most comfy sled I have ridden....gas guage dipped from 9 bars to 5 bars....110 miles on the tank and 5 full bars to go.....200 miles on this second tank is a lock.....

does dnr charge for a lost snowmobile sticker? one of mine flew off or was stolen and one remains on the sled

I Rented the MXZ Sport 600 ace (1,800 miles on it) last weekend (Temps were mid 30's) .
Ran 140 total miles. I estimate about 100 miles twisty's (30-40 MPH) and 40 miles fire roads (40-60MPH) and I topped it off with 5.1 gals. That comes out at 27.45 MPG. I really love the way it handled in the twisty's and I rode it hard from corner to corner. My top speed was 70 MPH as that was all I wanted to go at top end. Great engine for those who like a sled comparable in get up and go to the Polaris 500 Classic, which I own.

sled buying strategy-

Buying from any dealer is like buying a car- my strategy is to always work on an "out the door price"-then there are no additions or surprises. Do what works for you. I have a max price I will pay assuming a dealer is "Fair". The only way you do that is to rub a couple of dealers together. Do your homework first, -do price out what you want before you start talking deal to see what they will do for you before you ever determine or bring up your "out the door" price range you are comfortable with. Market conditions -snow -no snow (usually the best time to buy a sled) When dealers are slow you do much better-also make sure you are talking about a sled you can touch not a sled that is somewhere else. If they don't have the sled you want to buy tell them to get it there and come back to talk. If your number doesn't work go to a different dealer. Through this process You get educated and become more knowledgable. Most Dealers don't like educated smart lookers but they do appreciate a smart informed buyer who knows what they want and are ready to buy. The buyer is always in control because you can turn around and walk away anytime-don't get sucked into thinking there is only that One great deal-its all about how motivated both you and the dealer are. Don't let your emotions take control or enter into the buying process. This is pure and simple and economic game as you want to pay as little as possible and the dealer wants to get list price. Buying and selling is a fun game and should be a win -win for you and the dealer. I like building a relationship with a reputable dealer. The only way you get to that point is to do a deal with them that you are happy with and that gives you opportunities to go back to them again.

Rode 40 more miles today. Had to put in a gallon of gas as a precaution as i was not sure of distance from land of lakes to boulder. 4 bars remain and have 160 on this tank (which includes one extra gallon put in)

Ski doo should have made the tank 11.6 and not 10.6......dont know why dealers dont give larger gas tanks..maybe because of room available....

I would be interested in hard facts about MPG of your ACE since broken in now. Please measure miles traveled & exact gas useage. You can't be factual looking at gas gauge bars does not mean much you need to do the math. PM me if better for you.
Thanks,

I have 218 miles on this tank...and am very very close to empty, light has come on twice..will ride it till empty tomorrow....but, this tank did include one extra gallon i put in.....so its safe to say 200 miles on this particular tank is the mileage at this point

depends how much i get on tomorrow before it stops

Dealer

Ok, I talked to dealer and it is a go for next Tuesday at his dealer as originally planned. Any body know where I can find a sea doo back rest?
I can order it online but would rather buy one in person next week if possible..

ps--when a dealer quotes you a price..does it include... dealers feight charge and set up? some dealers said $8800 for the ACE, others said 8300, but didnt mention freight charge which is $500

is this dealer Iron Mountain Motorsports? If it is I know the feeling

Yes, that is the dealer. i made them take out the freight charge bs or no deal.

My ace ran out of gas at 228 miles...so figure about 208 miles ( subtracting out the extra gallon i put in)..............208 miles on a single tank rocks

i rode 6 days in a row at a total cost of $28 gas.........

the extra price is worth it if you ask me, if you ride it say for 7-10 years...
you will save the money in gas and oil, compared to a cheaper non ACE engine sled......I had to fill up my gtx every day last year it seemed like....
