Dream coming true a step at a time.

Instead of starting up a donation pool for the large pole building, everyone help out and buy from Sled Solutions!

Good luck with your build. This is what I would LOVE to do someday....

That would be nice! LOL Our budget is very small but we are doing what we can. We weren't able to build our dream house or more acreage but we ARE living up north so it's not that bad.

Congrats Paul!

I know you already know this but, your living all of our dreams! I don't really have much to offer but, if you do a work weekend, to do whatever, I'll do what I can to help. Keep us posted on progress and needs and, hopefully, you can plan a JD weekend for those who can help will get up there for you.

BTW: Tell your father-in-law I love the truck. New tires by Monday. They had to order them.

Dave

Thanks Dave! Just hoping to get in before the darn snow flies. We're about 3 months behind schedule and as it stands right now we'll be moving in and settling in during the holidays and my busiest time of the year. Glad the truck is working for you!

congrats!! Looks awesome, love the views.
Just be sure to build a guest room.:D

:D

Tough crowd...but funny. It's a little like "Throw that cow over the fence some hay."

Sorry S.S. - Back on topic - A lot of us wish we had your project to look forward to and a little of your new found sense of calm.

When is your expected completion date? I can only assume it is before the snow flies. Maybe "completion date" isn't the right term (are houses ever completed?). "Move in date" might be a better choice.

Keep the photo updates coming.

90 days from Friday if ALL goes well, which I'm sure we will run into snags. I'm hoping we don't and it happens sooner but we were told 90 days.

Non the less we will be moving in during all of these events.

Bowhunting
Novi Snow Show
Opening Day of Gun
Thanksgiving

....and top it all off with me working 16 hour days supplying snowmobilers with accessories. It's going to be a challenge that's for sure.

90 Days! The time is going to fly!

You've gone through other builds before but this is a true labor of love. At some point, you'll look back and say "Geez, I don't even remember doing half this stuff". Besides, by my count, you still have 8 hours a day to spare.

BTW, I will be helping the cause this winter. I have a serious case of "gear envy" when I look at the gear of my riding buddies. It just won't do...

It truly is a labor or love.

I can certainly hook you up in the gear department, just let me know when you're ready.

Congrats Paul on the entire project. Hopefully the Pole barn work with the friend works out and goes a little more smooth then it is now.

Look forward to seeing you at Haydays again and helping with the "barn fund". I know there will be videos I'll need out there. :)

Life would be boring without a few challenges, diffinately an exciting fall for you this year though, better than just waiting on a new sled!!

I've been telling my wife for a couple years now that we need to move somewhere between Traverse City and Cadillac. I grew up mostly in Gaylord and would move back up there in a heartbeat if I could find a job. The Lake Effect snowbelt of Northern Indiana will have to do until then...

You are living a dream for a lot of us. Very cool.

Tony

Well, today we started the barn.

30" x 48" deep holes - RIDICULOUS!!!

Lumber showed up.

Cement showed up a little early but we scrambled and got it done.

8-19-118.jpg

Part of us getting the job done was my 6 year old, who is in action here.

Poles laid out for the morning.

8-19-1111.jpg

One exhausted worker....LOL

Tomorrow the guys will set the poles and get everything squared up. We were supposed to have had the trusses but the lumber yard failed to have them in stock. Who doesn't have standard 6/12 pitch trusses for a 30' pole barn IN STOCK!! Set us back a little, they should be here Wednesday.

I'm exhausted and my son caught a 35 minute snooze on the way home and he's running around again....me not so much.

Progress is a good thing.:)

You mentioned the pole footings, did you think they were too deep? That topic has been discussed a lot lately with our gang. A couple of our machine buildings were partially destroyed /blown down this summer. Some of the poles were pulled right out of the ground. Nearly all the remaining had moved the earth substantially. The new buildings will have much stronger footings.

Looking good Paul! Keep the posts coming. Do you plan on stocking and shipping the majority of your product out of the new shop or do you ship direct from the MFG's to cut down on overhead? I would assume you stock most items due to needing to order for the season. Just curious???

We usually carry in stock the most popular stuff, now I'll have more room to do it in. :D

We drop ship 30% of the time if I had to guess.

Another long day, hand set 22 trusses and lifted 50 sheets of 1/2 OSB up to the boys on the roof. I'm TIRED! LOL

Done for the day!!

......AND the excavators prepped for concrete.

Tomorrow, shingles, forms for the concrete and the walls I think.

I'm going to bed.......man am I out of shape. The up side is that I'll be in better shape when we head out to CO to ride with Burandt this year.
