extended warranty

Found a new 2010 rush. 0 miles. Has 1 yr warranty. But dealership is tryin to sell me extended warranty. Is it worth it? Also how is that sled? Any known problems a person has to watch for? No bashing the sled. Thanks.

do it! had a 03 Indy 500, 23 months into the 24 month warranty, the crank shaft broke, Polaris rebuilt the complete motor, cost me 2 spark plugs from the dealer. About $8.00, the dealer said
if I did not have the warranty, it would of ran about $1,900.00

depends on cost. the poo 600 is a good power plant if more than a couple hundred a yr I would pass.if planning on selling in a yr or 2 a transferable warranty can pay off but still if over 700 for 4 yrs prob not

Better ask if that is the factory 1st year then 4 years, or a total of 4 years. I suspect the policy is a 3 year extension for a 4year total. dealer played that wording game with me. Now I buy from another dealer. Trust issue on the sale was all I needed to leave an otherwise very good dealer. 4 extra years to much money for that sled. 4 years extra giving you 5 years total and you "Will" keep the sled and ride it regularly than it is worth it. The transfer part is nice. I go with the Polaris star warranties over others for the fact they work with the dealers much better. Ask yourself, "Do you feel lucky", and go from there. Garranteed if you have it you won't need it ,but if you do you will not use it. Murpy's law.

A good friend of mine told me this when I was thinking about getting an extended warranty for a car..."If you are scared that what you are buying is going to break down, why are you buying it?" One other thing, do you know what the profit margins are on extended warranties - it is like 80%. The dealer makes more $ off the warranty than the sled.

I paid $478 for a total of 4 years of warranty or 3 years of extended after the 1 year factory. Just a FYI.

Most Rush 600s are pretty good. A bud had one go down twice under 2000 miles. Been fine since, has over 4000 now. His seemed to be the exception though.

$900 still don't sound bad for 5 years. Crank work will run you 1500-2000, top ends are around 1000 nowadays. If someone disagrees on the cost, you obviously have never gone to a dealer to get work done before that cost $90 an hour. How many miles per year do you ride?

Usually 1500-2000 miles. But now I just found another deal on a sled that I don't think I can pass up. 2011 shift 136" 600 CFI. Has 240 miles. 4 yr transferable warranty. Tunnel bag. New spare belt and cover. And synthetic chain case oil. I'm not gonna say price but its about 1500 bucks cheaper than the 2010 rush. Decisions decisions, now what to do?????

Take the shift!!! Just as fast as the Rush, already has the waranty and $1500 cheaper, no brainer! Take some of the money you save and install a tach. Done deal. :)

I agree but you're probably on the low side. When a carb boot failed on my Polaris 600, it ended up being around $2,200 (crank work, cylinder, etc.). I think the warranties on these modern 2 strokes are almost a no brainer unless you have the ability and interest in working on them yourself. And unless you have really small hands, they are getting harder to do so.

Take the Rush!!!!!!! Why go backwards on technology. Shift is a good sled, but the IQ platform is old now and cannot match up with the Rush platform.
