Fogging Rush/Switchback/Assault question

I may have missed the answer to this but, why not use regular sled oil like Polaris VES Gold? That's what I've been doing. Should I be using a different type oil for any particular reason? Just curious.

Dave
I'm not sure either why people think they need to use 10w30 or some sort of motor oil. Just use the same 2-stroke oil you use in the sled.

Couldn't that void your warranty? Drilling a hole in the airbox? Maybe I'm crazy but that screams Polaris not covering a motor problem because they didn't put a hole and plug in from the factory???

Well it could...however, how should the motor get fogged? Is this plug going to cause an engine failure? Why would it?

I suppose if someone wanted to be a real; you know what, then probably. I have a good guy that I send work to that knows about these engineering problems. I'm not worried about it. I'm worried about moisture inside of my crank by not fogging it.

1 assuems you got a very small hose and riged it up to the shop vac and got all the plastic shavings out.
if going that way would not a ice pick in the center of the box work just poak a hole stick the red hose from spray can in the hole and spray.the vacume will suck it in just fine hunk of tape for the small hole done.

Polarice, you should send that idea to Polaris, they could put the hole & plug in the the airboxes on the MY2013 sleds!!

The plug, from what I found, is a rubber plug used on the side of many older Polaris Indy sleds for access to the primary clutch bolt, should work fine for this application.

You could, but it wouldn't be easy to find the hole lol. There are no shavings when using a hole saw. They go on the outside.

I'm not saying this would cause some type of failure; it probably won't. I was just saying I could see Polaris screwing a guy over on a warranty.

Spoke to a guy who says they just drain most of the fuel out of the tank, and then dump in some pre-mix gas and run the engine to "fog" it. Am I missing something here, how would that procedure coat the internals (and crankshaft) with enough oil for off-season storage?

You're aren't missing anything. It won't get into the bottom end the way they're doing it.
