Just had my mind blown I follow a few people non from this forum on you tube. This kid has a brand new RMK 850 and the first thing he does is put ice scratchers on it and a ggb mountain can and guess where he rides. The UP. And of course he's like 18 ***.

Completely irrelevant to the topic of loud pipes on sleds, but someone always brings it up...Or maybe its always you?

No it's not...and he's not the only one.

That mascot falling down after Bear missed kick is hilarious.

We also need to get rid of the loud pipes on the Harley's.
The differance is no amount of complaining will ever shut down a public road. However, a sick of this crap landowner can shut down the trail in 1 minute with a phone call. There is no debating this fact. You either care or you don't when it comes to cans on sleds. Cans on sleds=I don't care if it causes problems. Pure and simple.

I'd be just as happy riding if my sleds motor was dead silent.

won't be long you'll be able to buy the new "TeslaDoo"

I actually admire the kid. He has self confidence way beyond most his age. He is playing out the you tube profit angle. I can only assume that once you tube allows you on board with ad sales, you get a % of sales per hit? chaching, chaching.

maybe he will earn enough for a college education that allows him to preach to us baby boomers being the reason he can't catch a walleye.

it ius not lies . I deal with land owners from time to time damage or not they can see track all over there field or worse there yard .
When asking permission do you fill the landowner with a bunch of BS and say that all sledders will neatly stay between the imaginary lines, never cut a corner and are ALL perfect cookie cutter humans?...If so that's a lie. Getting permission based on false pretense is just stupid.

A more practical approach when getting permission is to admit that we aren't perfect and can't claim that all the ppl using the trail will be perfect either BUT any and all damage or immediate attention needed will be taken care of....that is all that I am saying here....i'd also remind them that tracked up snow goes away around april 1.

Lmao. I would believe his dad is I don't doubt it from the videos I have seen he seems pretty level headed. But why in God's green earth a mountain can and a ggb at that?!?! The young man is clearly smart enough to utilize YouTube to his benefit but promoting something such as a mountain can specially when you ride in the yoop is foolish to the max. Unnecessary, excessively loud. And is a direct violation of Michigan law. Maybe he doesn't get caught maybe he does. But it's a direct hit as to what riders are causing problems in that department. I value my right to ride and the hard work it takes to be able to ride and enjoy this sport. But why waste that hard earned money on something that results in a ticket that costs almost as much as the item its self. That's my. 02 but I s and behind it as I don't want to have to ride reroute and last min ones at that because people are tired of hearing the crap.

I understand a cut/blown corner, but the blatant cutting through fields/private property I don't. Some of these property owners are really picky...I had one stop me and start raising h*ll because of a single track that had veered off the trail by about 6' for probably no more than 30' and just couldn't wait to shut down his part of the trail because of it.

I have always had cans on my sled through the years. My xlt's, xcr's, Edge's, etc. Man did a DG can make an XLT sound sweet. Loved that sound. All my Edge chassis sleds had a SLP can on them. They were as quiet as the stock cans. I never got stopped in WI with it and I did see lots of CO's on the trails. They just waved me on by.
I am 50 now and really do not care for the annoying sound riding all day. I do love the sound when we are out playing in the middle of nowhere though. It is a beautiful sound, just for a short time.
My son's sled ('15 600 Switchback Assault) has a can on it. He bought it that way. He did get a stock can with it also. He rode it last year in the UP and I told him near any houses, towns, etc. you do not braap it. Nice easy throttle. If I hear it you are done for the trip. He did not braap it unless we were in the middle of nowhere. He knows he needs to have respect for people that are around the area. This year I told him he needs to put on the stock can even though his would pass the dB test with the aftermarket one. His other sled ('02 Pro-X 600) came with a can and we do not have the stock can. It is a SLP and is very quiet. It sounds stock. I am not worried about this one.
Now my Nytro has a complete Hindle/Hurricane performance kit with headers, pipe and can. It is not loud and I do not have the stock parts for it. I just take it easy in populated areas and ride on.
To me it is about respect.

We have a landowner who complained every year about people going off trail. She is not a farmer so crop damaged wasn't her concern. She always wants the trail in certain spots, not pointed towards house and as far away as possible for noise. She finally got sick of off trail riders and made her own signs stating land access will be terminated if it continues. We always used our standard stay on trail signs, but must not have been enough. I will look and see if its up this year. If it is I'll take a pic. Don't know if it's an OCD thing or what, but she doesn't like it.

Still nothing being done around Newberry by anyone including the DNR as I have stated and the noise and amount of riders with loud sleds is getting worse..
The trail closing deal is only a scare tactic as too many businesses depend on the snowmobile business and everyone knows that.
It will all be over in a couple of months and will repeat next year and the year after as no law enforcement is going to do anything about the noise with the exception of a few larger populated areas that do not depend on snow sled money.

So if you do not like it when you stop to eat or get gas and you hear a loud sled let them know that they are too loud....Other than that we will just have to live with it...
Again I am not pro loud sled....Thanks

I am confused on this. What is the correct way to go around a groomer on trail? Do we just stay on the trail and stare at each other or does one pull off the side to let the groomer keep doing his business?

Spot on here. I think this is what it should be like. The idea of removing all aftermarket mufflers is crazy. The trail can with sensible throttle control is what we really need to push. I am sorry, but someone who wants to hear their sled is going to be a tough fight if you tell them they can't have anything. But, if you say hey, you can have that trail can that is not obnoxious but a sweet tone and not braapin by every house, i think you will have a better chance winning the fight.

Is it really getting worse or more people complaining? I feel like there was way more sleds on groomed trails in the 90's with lots of piped and canned sleds.
