Green Bay Mayor Looking for Favre Homecoming Ideas

I am sure that Favre is expecting just about anything and everything when he runs out the VISITOR'S tunnel at Lambeau on Sunday except one thing. If Packer fans really want to rattle his cage they should all stand up the minute he hits the field and go completely silent. This would unnerve anybody. Can you imagine a packed Lambeau stadium dead silent? I know I can't.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -Brett Favre is downplaying any anxiety about returning to Lambeau Field, though he expects to hear both boos and cheers.

Favre insisted Wednesday he hasn't thought much about emotions he might feel when Minnesota travels to Green Bay, except when others bring up the subject. After 16 seasons as a Packers star and icon, Favre will play there for the first time as a visitor. The Vikings can open a commanding lead in the NFC North with a win.

Favre says he doesn't believe <font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font><font color="ff0000">&#149;</font> be as nervous as he was in the hours leading up to Minnesota's first game against Green Bay three weeks ago.

Regarding potential disrespect from betrayed Packers fans, Favre says he recognizes their devotion to the team but expects the "true fans" to maintain their appreciation.

If Leroy Butler, Mark Chmura, Edgar Bennett, or any of the other players from the '96 team could still play, anywhere, don't you think they would be? All of these guys had outlived their usefulness with the Packers, and were out of options, except one...claim the only team they would play for is the Packers. When the tread is off the tire, you replace them. #4 has shown that he has some tread left, when management was forcing him to the recycle pile. Why do you think they wouldn't release him and then structure the terms of the trade to the Jets as severe as they were? Besides, when Chmura quit he had more time to play with the babysitter.
