Guess the Tow Vehicle?

I have seen many tow vehicles in my day but this one takes the cake. Some people complain about the rich people with Escalades as tow vehicles, but what would you think about this? Sooo, guess the tow vehicle and your reward is...just being smart. I will tell the answer in a few days if no one guesses right. (Grant Hoar, you are disqualified.)

Definitely a Porsche Cayenne - probably an 09. It's hard to say which model but if it's a Turbo S it had a mere $124,000 sticker price. The bigger question is what they are riding.

X2 on the Cayenne.

When I was driving a duramax crewcab I toyed with the idea of moving to the Volkswagon Toureg, liked the diesel power and MPG's and the tow rating on the VW was plenty (7700 lbs). I was hoping to find a 2 year old off-lease used one but VW didn't sell many Toureg diesels in the US and new ones were "just a bit" pricey.

I work in Northbrook IL. They're pretty common there. I didnt know people could tow with them. I saw some had hitches, but I just thought they where for bike racks. Hmm, go figure.

cayenne 3.0 turbo diesel 236 hp with 405 lbs of torque no slouch.not to shabby I think a z71 with a 5.3 is like 295hp with 330lbs torque.it is fun to see the looks on guys faces as you pass them pulling a enclosed 3 place about 4feet taller and 2x longer than the cayenne

So most people got that it was a Porsche Cayenne. Yes, it was hooked to the trailer and had load-levelers. The trailer was completely decked-out with 120V circuit, electronic tongue jack, everything. The sleds where a pair of Ski-doos MKZ XRS and a 40th Annv. Apex.

It justs behoves me to think that someone would tow with such a vehicle and not buy something bigger to handle the trailer. Yes, there is enough power to pull it but is there enough vehicle mass to control the trailer? A cross wind has to play havoc on the Porsche. I can relate because I pull an enclosed in-line with a Durango and a cross wind plays havoc with me.

Those are the kind of rigs you see in the median balled up after they pass you going 90 in a white out.

Load levelers??? I'm guess'n you mean weight distribute'n hitch... If you combined the hitch and electric brakes and rear sway bar I'm sure it helps compensates for the lack of HD suspension and wheel base on the Poorch... Most people if they would add thoze items to there vehicles would be surprized at what a few hundo bones does to help eliminate sway, sag and stopping on their substandard illhandle'n tow vehicles...

Do that drive everyday from Elkhorn?

I see a guy around here towing a 2-3 place inline with a BMW X5 suv.

Yes but only for a short time, and we can leave the rat race down there behind.
Oh, my son tows his open 3 place with a Saab 93 sedan. It pulls surprisingly well, very strong, but as others have said, if the trailer decided to take the ditch, I don't think the car would have much say so.

I'm sorry if I'm not using your terminology but I learned "weight distribution hitch" as load levelers from an old farmer. I think of them as leveling the trailer and tow vehicle; you can think of them as distributing the weight between them. Either way, it's was pair of springs inserted into the draw bar (I hope this is not another term difference) and attached to the trailer by a chain.
