Guess when will we be able to ride in the U.P.?

I am hoping to come up Dec. 1. The trails don't open until then so I am not counting any snow there now or before Dec. 1. As it stands today, the forecast doesn't look great for riding on opening day. But, even John will tell you not to put a lot of stock in his forecast two weeks out. When do you think the trails will be rated at least "Fair". That is the standard I am looking for. Right now my guess is December 8.

"Fair" depends on quite a few factors. We have done many trips the first week over the years. Some were great and some ended up being a rainy muddy mess. Watch the forecasts.
We always check with locals before early season trips. Grooming can be a big variable. Early snow does not always mean good trails. Deep snow and no good freezing can actually be worse.

Nice! Are you riding the trails?

I was going to say that Skylar had already been riding the trails. In our area (NE ND) we had about a week of riding already, I didn't go out but I saw some riding and there were tracks everywhere. Most of it melted yesterday though.

Is the Bill Nichols trail open to snowmobiles any time there is enough snow to use them? Any other state trails that are on old railroad routes that do not have private property trail easements? That are open as long as snow is present

The Bill Nichols is OK to ride at any time of the year. The exceptions being daylight hours from Nov 15-30, during deer season.

I think you are aloud to ride between 11 am and 2 pm, at least thats the way I read the rules, and about 5 years ago we rode during gun law and were stopped by DNR and they said we were correct.

able to ride, is that better, sorry I'm not an english major
"able to ride"? or perhaps "allowed".

I'm not an English [sic] major either, I are a "mathemagician"(BS Mathematics, MTU, 1964)/software engineer (retired).

(Don't feel alone. it "ain't" you, it's a general deterioration in English language skills that I see nearly everywhere that bugs me.)

One all too common example:
When I see/hear "I seen"/"we seen" — Where does that shіt come from, our school system(s)? — I just want to say "No, you didn't 'seen', you saw!
Julius Caesar:
"I came, I seen, I conquered"?
Huh?
