Haydays......Is it worth it?

Kind of on the fence about going to haydays. All told it's going to cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $300-$400 just to show up between food, parking, admission and hotel. I've been to haydays before but never at the new grounds. Is the parking issue resolved? I heard nightmares about the first year at the new grounds. So....is it worth it?

I haven't been back since the first year at the new digs. That was a miserable experience. Nothing I need bad enough to make me wade through all the crap that is showing up there. To each his own though....

I went last year. Traffic and parking was a NON Issue. Not like we got there early or anything either. Wasn't but short maybe 5 min or less walk to gate. If your wanting a winter fix may be worth it. This is 50th annual hay days not heard specifics but grapevine been buzzing about more entertainment. Watched some of the side by side racing last year was pretty cool.

Man you guys must eat a lot of food! 5 hour rip 1 way for us and splitting fuel across 4 guys, admission, and food is less than $60. Last year we camped and that added not much at all as we had 10 guys in 1 site, but this year will just pull an all-nighter, drive there, walk around all day Saturday, and drive home.

The traffic and parking was only a first year issue. I used to go every year, I wouldn't miss it. But every year, it deviates more and more from snowmobiling. More car parts and household junk in the swap, more vendors selling truck tires and ATV parts. Now I go once every 2-3 years and even then I wonder why I am there sometimes.

some guys like to eat more than hot dogs, mac and cheese and water.

We've been going every year for 20+ yrs. We go down Friday night, camp at the chicken coop campground with the same group every yr, go to haydays both days, have big pot lucks at the campground, just a great time for us. Its my wife, daughter, and myself. My son doesn't even go but my daughter wouldn't miss it. Yes, its expensive but its basically one of our planned vacation/camping trips. Wouldn't miss it!

That sounds like a great way to do it. Summer camping, with a fix of snowmobile. WIN WIN!

I went for about 15 years running but when they moved to the new location I stopped going. Yes I heard of that first year nightmare, it just took a few years for the locals to realize their $$ potential by having people park on their property. I have heard that is now a non issue.

I use to be about 1 hour away, now it's another half hour on to that. If you are looking for something hard to find and willing to wade through it all or just love the atmosphere and entertainment it might be worth it. My buddy goes every year and he does seem to find certain things at a somewhat decent price. Clothing is something that's nice to find there being you can try it on first.

I guess I have gone the way of many and tend to shop online. If I need something I can usually order it to my doorstep and save the hassle. So that and the fact that Haydays falls on my daughter's birthday I quit going.

That's an ambitious itinerary, to make it through 6 states in 2 weeks. Unless you're not going to stop and check things out. We took a week long motorcycle trip starting in Denver about 5 years ago. I thought we would have time to go up through Yellowstone and maybe even through the Snowy Mtn range. 7 days later we rode back into Denver and we never left Colorado, though we almost touched all 4 borders. Just too much to see and do.

We swapped a few yrs ago and camped inside. It was the yr it was about 95 degrees. While we had fun we didn't get to see enough stuff so we decided to wait 10 yrs til we have enough stuff to do it again. It was fun wandering around that first night, bought some great stuff that night. It was also nice having all of your food and beverages in your fridge so you weren't paying for it all the time!

I need something hauled from Marquette Mich. to Hay Days, if anyone is going that way and is interested I'm willing to pay $50.00 towards gas. It is a tow-behind sled trailer so you pack it full of goodies on your way and have an empty spot to fill on the way back. Gary @ 651/ 261-5482

there will be a band each night , Levi's jump on Saturday at 5 pm , you don't have to buy a 2 day pass just to get in Saturday , there will be a lot of big HP sleds racing on a new clay track we are building right now , I haven't missed one since 1979 and I am not missing this one either
