Hayward area conditions

We are thinking of driving to Shell Lake in the morning and riding NE towards Hayward and Mellon. Anyone have any info if this is doable? Thanks

Would really like to know how your ride out of Shell Lake went. Thinking of heading that way this weekend.

firefighter1, I got first hand knowledge of the area headed towards Clam Lake from the south last night:

"Winter got 4". Rode up to Clam Lake and there's enough snow. Met up with the groomer and it was excellent "

XCR440 - where did your friend start from? We will be staying in Siren, WI, but can trailer from there if trails are bad in that area.

We were in Hayward riding this past weekend stayed out on tiger cat flowage driving thru shell lake spooner I think you could ride but thin for sure once you get to Hayward there is more snow and when we rode to barnes and Drummond they had even more snow. Trails were decent but they need some fresh snow to help out but was good riding none the less My two top trails that I rode that I can remember were 8 was spots where it was nice and wide and rolling but nice and smooth and also 77 was good

Thanks for the info, we will head that direction in the morning and if it doesn't look like we can start in Shell Lake we will keep driving until we get to Hayward. Hopefully they will get some snow today or tonight.

I didn't think of it till now too there was a crap load of truck and trailers parked at shell lake im guessing it was public access or something on the right side of 63 in town

We did go today and we decided to drive further north than Shell Lake so we parked at Walmart in Hayward on Hwy 77. Trails were snow covered and fairly smooth, the further NE we went the better they were. Clam Lake was really nice and we did meet a groomer today also. I think it was worth the trip today. Everything south of Hayward was a little thin to ride in my opinion.
